Hiring a Photographer vs a Videographer or both

If you're only choosing one I would choose a photographer just because it's easier to look at and display photos over video. Whether to have a videographer or not is a personal choice. Some people love that they did and wouldn't go without one, and others don't believe it's worth the cost. It depends on whether you believe footage of your day is something you truly want to have.

I would be careful if you hire a professional photographer but have a random person stream your ceremony from a phone. 1. The quality isn't going to be great. 2. If the person filming is in the way of the photographer that's going to mess with the images you paid for. Some videographer companies are offering free streaming with Covid, you would just have to look around.

Like Jessi mentioned, if you have to pick one or the other, I'd go with a photographer. If you're able to afford both, then I suggest getting both. Your choice really depends on whether you want to be able to physically watch aspects of your wedding after it's said and done, and whether you think the cost is worth it.

I also agree with Jessi's statement about streaming the wedding. If you do have someone stream it with just their phone, then you run the risk of delays, no reception/signal, and poor video quality. Search videographers in your area, get quotes, and inquire about any streaming services they may offer.

If you're choosing between the two then definitely the photographer!

I agree with SHY & Jessi - if you only have room in the budget for one vendor, then I'd go for the photographer!! I love the video footage of our wedding but photos are easier to share, post, and display! We also had nice photo albums made for our parents as our wedding gift to them, and got one for us as well. 📷❤️

If you are financially able to do both then I highly recommend getting both. If you had to choose one then I would say photographer
