High Quality Disposal China for Reception

joey, on May 2, 2018 at 7:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 41

So...... I've been selling myself on the idea of using high quality disposal china dinnerware. My caterer is not providing any dinnerware, flatware or stemware so I have to rent everything Smiley atonished . I already purchased the stainless steel flatware and I'm renting the stemware (wine and water glasses). However.....I did not want to rent the china because I don't know who would wash all those plates and I also did not want to haul all those heavy plates to and fro. I'm picking up all of my rentals myself as my son has a utility van. The rental company gave me a 15% discount for picking up and returning all the rentals (also renting chairs from them as well).

I thought it would be less stressful to just go with the disposal china. My venue is not super fancy, it's very plain so this would not look out of place and from what I can see, the plates look really good. This is the only disposal item I'm using.

I saw a design I really like on WebstaurantStore (see below). I read the reviews and everybody had a very good experience with these plates. Sturdy, durable, hold up well with hot food, looks like real china, etc. To purchase the 10" dinner plate and 7" salad plate is $118.00. Any excess I don't use at the wedding, I can use around the Holidays.

What do you guys think?

That's what I'd do in your position - it'll look real in the pictures, and nobody will think anything of it. Good idea, that should save you some headaches as your situation already sounds a little complicated! Good luck!

Also PS I love the Webstaurant store, I use it in my job all the time and everything ships really quick - I did get a plastic bin that came in warped and damaged once, but they let me keep it and sent a replacement right away.

Thanks Summer. Yeah, I was stressing about who would wash all those plates or having to haul dirty dishes back to my condo to wash and return to the rental company that following Monday. Easier to dispose of them and just gather up the glasses and run them through my dishwasher, since they would be easier to clean.

Yes, WebstaurantStore would be my only choice for disposal china, I know they stock quality items.

My family uses these plates for holidays because we don't want to wash that many dishes. They work really well and look perfectly fine. I think it's a great option!

Thanks Alysia. The caterer I wanted to use would have provided all that, but my fiance wanted to use one of his business clients, I wasn't happy about it but he's paying for the catering. I'm going to get him to pay for these plates too! Smiley shame

I think disposable is the way to go, and these look nice! This way you don't have to worry about renting them - things breaking or missing.

I thought the same thing. Since these plates look so good, I think it makes the most sense and we decided to do a buffet style as well for the food.

These look great. Honestly, we went with nice disposable dishes like this (and utensils that looked like silverware) and it helped with our budget and fit better with our reception food, anyway. We had a catered taco (and appropriate sides) buffet, so not going disposable would've been a little weird. Smiley smile

This looks very similar to what we will be using. We are having onsite bbq catering. We wanted something easy and disposable, but that still looked fairly nice. After seeing the hassle renting china was for my best friend. It was expensive, difficult to transport, time consuming to clean, and in the end some of the plates broke and they were charged over $200 on fees even with the “insurance” it made the most sense for us.

We are planning to use disposable dinnerware for our buffet from the same site. I don't think anyone will fault you for it.

Disposable is definitely the way to go! My caterer is providing the three section plastic plates and at first I didn't want to go that route, but they provide them for free, guests can just throw them away, and no dish washing! In my opinion, no one is there for the dishes. They won't even remember what they ate a free meal on. Smiley smile

We are doing the same thing! I actually want those same plates but in gold! We are having a southern BBQ served buffet at our reception complete with a pit master to hand carve the meats. Our reception isn't too fancy where we couldn't get away with it, but just fancy enough where we need high quality plates. We have real glass drink-ware and linen napkins, etc. We had to find and bring in all of our vendors (its not an all inclusive place) and the caterer only provides cheaper plastic plates and cups, so we decided to get our own.

I think is a great idea! They look great! You can’t even tell the difference! If my venues was not providing the China & a bus boy, Trust me I would do the same! My sister & cousin bought those and the plastic silverware that looks real & saved them the hassle.
    I say go for it!

We are actually using the same for our wedding reception. It's pretty common for people to use it with our caterer.

The shipping for me would be $25.00 but that's for over 300 plates. It could be cheaper but it's not really that bad. I guess this stuff has some weight to it.

That's what we are doing. Our caterer ordered them for us though. She gets a discount.

Sam's also carries this type of disposable dinnerware as well. We are using them. Great prices.

Are you serving steak? That would be my only hesitation with these, they wouldn't be good for cutting. Other than that, they look great and I don't think anyone will care.
