High Quality Disposal China for Reception

So...... I've been selling myself on the idea of using high quality disposal china dinnerware. My caterer is not providing any dinnerware, flatware or stemware so I have to rent everything . I already purchased the stainless steel flatware and I'm renting the stemware (wine and water glasses)....

So...... I've been selling myself on the idea of using high quality disposal china dinnerware. I already purchased the stainless steel flatware and I'm renting the stemware (wine and water glasses). However.....I did not want to rent the china because I don't know who would wash all those plates and I also did not want to haul all those heavy plates to and fro. I'm picking up all of my rentals myself as my son has a utility van. The rental company gave me a 15% discount for picking up and returning all the rentals (also renting chairs from them as well).

I thought it would be less stressful to just go with the disposal china. My venue is not super fancy, it's very plain so this would not look out of place and from what I can see, the plates look really good. This is the only disposal item I'm using.

I saw a design I really like on WebstaurantStore (see below). I read the reviews and everybody had a very good experience with these plates. Sturdy, durable, hold up well with hot food, looks like real china, etc. To purchase the 10" dinner plate and 7" salad plate is $118.00. Any excess I don't use at the wedding, I can use around the Holidays.

What do you guys think?

I'm using these same plates, but with the rose gold trim. We are also using plastic rose gold silverware. I think they are a great option as long as you are serving food that doesn't really need to but cut.

UO - yes they "look" nice, but will feel plastic. I just don't think a wedding is a place to use disposable plates. I've rented plates before and you don't have to wash them. They just had to be rinsed off of excess food and put back in their crates.

I'm sold on using the disposal China. It isn't just the washing, it hauling the plates from the venue back to the rental company. I'm picking up all of my rentals, they are not being delivered. Which would subject me to breakage and replacement fees. I thought about it a lot and this made the most sense.

These are very similar to what we used for our wedding. Hot dishes, and roast beef and chicken were just fine on them. They looked good, and we didn't have to worry about washing them. Our guests didn't care that they weren't "real china" at all.

Thanks for the reassurance. How did the plates hold up to cutting up chicken breast? Smiley smile

I've never heard of such a thing! How cool! It sounds like the perfect solution for you. You don't want your family and friends helping with dishes after the wedding hahaha!

So WebtaurantStore gave me this info about their shipping rates:

We are a wholesale distributor so we do not include the cost of shipping in the item prices. Many companies will include some of the shipping in the item price to lower the shipping at checkout. We only charge shipping at checkout so that you do not pay extra for each item when ordering in bulk. The shipping prices would be live pricing based on carrier pricing and not based on the price of the item.

Great choice! We used these for our mom's 65th birthday party and was very impressed with the quality. I'm also a member to that website however, we purchased them from party city because they offered a great discount for ordering all decor items from them.

Absolutely fine. We bought ours from Walmart in the party planning section, because we only needed 60 but they were great. They also looked great on the gold chargers we bought. Cleanup was a breeze and no plates were harmed in the slicing of any meats. The cutlery we used, however, was another story entirely though. We bought gold plastic cutlery that looked real and was sold as “heavy duty”... heavy duty they were absolutely not. As long as you are using real cutlery, you should be absolutely fine with these plates.

That's not bad at all! I wonder what I was trying to order at the time now lol. I just remember the shipping being outrageous. I'll have to look on there again.

The sales rep said: "The shipping prices would be live pricing based on carrier pricing and not based on the price of the item." What I got from this is shipping isn't really tailored to the average on-line consumer but more for businesses buying in bulk. Plus mailing anything is so pricey nowadays. USPS is always going up on their mailing rates. Heck, it cost me $11 just to send a tin of chocolate to my Aunt in Baltimore. Smiley amazing
