Hi, has anyone had luck selling an unworn, unaltered wedding dress online?

Indira, on May 21, 2018 at 4:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 14

I bought a dress 2 months ago but I fell in love with another dress that I am going to wear for my wedding. See pictures of the dress I'm selling below. I paid $958 plus taxes, selling for $750

I think anyone who has been successful at selling their dresses online do it at a very reduced price point.

Have you tried working with the store to see if they will take it back a refund or anything?

I have not sold a wedding dress online. There was a thread about this, and people suggested listing it on as many sites as possible. Just be sure to remove all posts as soon as the dress has sold. They also mentioned that they sold at a largely reduced rate. Good luck!

You’ll likely get less than half what you paid for it. You’re asking way too much. Someone could easily go into a salon and talk them down to $800.

They will only exchange it for something else. I might try that

Try offer up, let go, and poshmark. Ive sold a lot of stuff on poshmark. Some items a little pricier than others. I did it on and off with stuff i had but didnt wear anymore or never wore and made over $1200 doing so. People sell everything from forever 21 tops to real LV handbags. Ive never had an issue with a transaction either.

I agree with this. Even though it’s almost brand new it’s near impossible to get a decent amount of money selling secondhand.

Yeah I've posted a dress I thought would be SUPER easy to sell because edit was a fsirly popular plus size and unaltered at an extremely reduced price (less than 1/4 to buy it new), new with tags..and I've had 2 people contact me and neither followed up.
Your dress is a size 0??? Think about how incredibly tiny your "target group" is. Not many people are that tiny and a dress that size cannot be let out much (if at all) to accomadte another wize or cost of alterations...and it isn't being sold at much of a discount, Id imagine youre going to have an even rougher go of it than I am having :/

If the store doesn't take it back I recommend posting on more sites and decreasing the price. A size 0 will be harder to sell, too, but not impossible!

I agree that you're asking too much. Even with tags, it's like buying used and I wouldn't expect to get more than 50-60% of what you paid. Less if you paid full price because bridal shops will negotiate even on designer gowns. Sorry but those are the breaks.

I bought my dress off a seller on Facebook marketplace. Less than half of what she originally paid and it took her a year to sell. She said she did have it posted on other sites as well and barely any interest on it besides me.
