I want to have a small wedding so I need help with basically deciding what decor, invitation, etc would be appropriate for a rustic kind of theme of a wedding or basically i need help with everything... This is my first wedding and my parents and sister seem to want to have my wedding their way.

Have you booked your vendors, if you're planning on having them? What's your theme, if you have one.

I struggled with this a lot, especially when I first got engaged. Eventually I gave up on trying to get my MOH to help and it's "one day at a time" with my family. Stay firm with your decisions because it's your day and it's important it be what you want, but also know which battles to pick. I (for example) totally gave up on fighting about the guest list. My parents were being ridiculous so I eventually just let them invite who they wanted. I snuck in a few of our friends when I sent out the invitations (that I bought) but other than that, they chose to invite 90 out of 115 people.

Oh, and check out the wedding decor section at Michael's. They have some basic stuff you might like to get you started at least.

Hobby lobby puts their wedding stuff on sale every other week I believe. Also Pinterest is definitely a big help for inspiration. I think the first thing you need to do is research and book a venue for your ceremony and reception. It will give you a better idea of what you will need decor wise as well as help you pick your color pallet.(make sure colors won’t clash) Your MOH should be your sounding board and listen to the ideas you come up with. If she has input, great but ultimately it’s your wedding. So you need to be the one to figure out how you would like to to look and feel.

Nobody is responsible for helping you plan your wedding except you & your fiancé (but it’s definitely disappointing when friends & family aren’t supportive).

Have you & your fiancé already made these decisions: 1) budget, 2) estimated guest list, 3) venue or type of venue? These are the big decisions. If planning seems a bit overwhelming and you have a small guest list (under 20-25), you can find a rustic venue you like and see if they have weekday elopement/private wedding packages. They’ll usually include a few things for a reasonable price: ceremony, officiant, bouquet, and maybe a photographer. That’ll take some pressure off! You can treat your guests to a lunch or dinner after.

Use the check list on here and just go through one thing at a time. For decoration ideas, Pinterest works, you can google specific wedding images, and check out etsy as well. Just spend time looking up ideas. A lot of stuff you can do yourself and that helps save money as well

Sometimes you just have to look through some Pinterest wedding ideas to see what catches your eye. Anything with wood, flowers, burlap, lace, lanterns, etc fits a rustic theme! you just have to see what you love! Best of Luck

I have an alternative view on this. I am a bit older and I LOVE that no one wants to insert their ideas. Yes, I am starting with a completely blank canvas but the upside is that I get to do whatever I want. That is a positive. Start looking at pinterest, weddingwire, and start calling around to vendors and sourcing out the things that are important to you for your wedding day. You are lucky to be able to fly under the radar just ask some of the people planning weddings where they are subject to opinions left and right. Sometimes people can help too much...that is a thing. Rustic is a great and very popular theme these days. I am sure you can look on etsy and Amazon and find ideas of things you want to incorporate into your wedding. Good luck and have fun!!!

Pinterest, Google and Etsy are great for ideas on pretty much everything.
