Help with nj venue search (paging Celia and other nj brides)!

H, on December 29, 2017 at 9:50 AM Posted in New Jersey Planning 0 11
My fiancé and I really love David’s Country Inn in Hackettstown. We love he vibe and how it presents itself as a more causal/low key venue. We love that we have the entire Inn to ourselves, which is what we originally wanted in a venue.

The problem? The location. It’s kind of far for our guests but even more than that, we don’t love that area. It’s much more rural and the drive from the hotel to the venue isn’t a nice one at all. It’s kind of run down and our rehearsal dinner/Church options are extremely limited.

is anyone else familiar with another venue similar to this one? Celia — you are so knowledgeable about venues in Northern/Central NJ... I could use your input!

thanks everyone Smiley smile

Vendors are no longer allowed on here, Celia is gone sorry. Are you looking for a Rustic Venue? I am in Central Jersey.

I’m in central jersey as well. Unfortunately, no more Ceia. 😥 I’m getting married at Doolans Shore Club in Spring Lake and it has a rustic feel and is very affordable.

Wow!!!! I had no idea... thanks for telling me.

Yeah we do like rustic but not too rustic. What we liked about David’s was the history and that it was a very nice, quaint, older venue with lots of character. It doesn’t help that I really can’t describe well what I like (we are both so back and forth about what we like!) but David’s really had it all.

Also did you try the venue search on this site? We couldn't find what we wanted in NJ so we are getting married just over the border in PA at a working farm/ barn. We love the history of this barn as well and we get the venue for the entire weekend, down side - everything is BYO.

A friend of mine is the chef here she was on a food network competition show and she won, the food is amazing. Not sure if this is too far south.

I got married at the Inn at Millrace Pond, and it was perfect. Check them out!

Thanks Jennifer! I’ll check out Fernbrook.

I feel like I’ve done SO many searches on WW and The Knot and google. I was hoping there was some place I missed that might be right for us.

Can’t figure out how to edit my comment bc this is all nonsense now, but... just read what you said about having the Inn all to yourself. This is exactly what we had at millrace pond! I hope this helps!

We’re on a limited budget as well, and felt like we couldn’t get what we wanted with our budget in NJ. We ended up with Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort right over the border into PA (right off of rt 80). It’s s historic hotel and they are so flexible in making it what you want. You can have a reception under the outdoor pavilion, put a tent on the property or use one of the rooms inside (we’re having the Worthington Ballroom). We were scared of the 13,000 food/beverage minimum to use the ballroom but that’s after tax and service charge so we figured with 100-120 people we’d be spending that anyway. You can have it for a lot lesss if you choose to stay outside for your reception. It definitely has that rustic feel and the ceremony spot overlooking the Delaware River and the mountains is lovely. Also check out Stroudsmoor Inn - they have various pretty venues but the one we really loved we couldn’t meet the guest minimum and the others didn’t have any Saturday dates available 1.5 years in advance for the months we were interested in lol. So look early!

The Loft at Jack's Barn is rustic and uses David's Country Inn as one of their 3 caterers you can choose from. My BIL/SIL had their wedding there. It is also a little farther out - they did the Inn at Millrace Pond as their rehearsal (I believe someone else suggested it as a potential venue) and their hotel was about 20 min away - they used a school bus service to bus from the hotel and back.

If you're willing to look at little south The Lakeside Manor at McFaddens Catering is VERY reasonably priced and has a great rustic feel to it. Other than that I'm not super familiar with Central or North Venues. You might get more bang for your buck or slightly more rustic venues if you look Cherry Hill or lower near the farming communities. It might also help to look just over the state line in Bucks County.
