Help with decor!

Gwendolyn, on October 24, 2019 at 12:15 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 8

Hi ladies! I'm terrible at decor and would love some ideas from you all! I am having a tiny wedding (22 people including bride and groom) in July of 2020, with no bridal party. We aren't big dancers nor are our family members, so we are doing a dinner reception with cake and drinks.Any ideas on a simple and inexpensive way to make the ceremony area "pop"? I don't think I like the white aisle runner, but maybe a different color? For the reception area - would sunflowers clash with this green/mint color of the room? I was considering just grabbing a few small vases and dropping in some sunflowers from Trader Joe's on the center of the table. Would you cover the chairs, or add something to them?

Thank you guys for your help!!

Ceremony locationHelp with decor! 1With runner and plain chairs - would a shiny runner and summer wildflowers look OK on the chairs? Not sure how to make the altar "pop"?Help with decor! 2Dinner table for the reception - the walls are a mint greenHelp with decor! 3The chairs - should I get covers or just do a sash? I'm not sure what colors go right.Help with decor! 4

I think all the ideas you mentioned sound great (different colored runner, sunflowers for ceremony and reception). I also wouldn't even worry about the chairs honestly, aside from decorating the ones along the aisle for the ceremony Smiley smile

I like the idea of wildflowers and I think they'd look great in a vase! I don't think they'd clash at all with the decor already there. I'd leave the chairs how they are. But maybe a yellow runner? If you're going to have petals thrown they're not going to show up on the carpet there really.

That space is cool! I would maybe do a red or gold isle runner. I think it would pop in the area. I don’t think the chairs need coves, just leave them as is. Flowers, I don’t think sunflowers will look good in that area but going to Trader Joe’s and grabbing flowers is a great cost effective idea, maybe just some other flowers. What color linen will you have on the table? That could make a difference for flowers and color...

I'm not sure if I will bother with tossed petals really - seems like more mess to be taken care of! Thank you! Smiley smile

Thank you! I love this place - it's very historic. I like the idea of a gold runner - I wasn't sure if it would be too much or not. But gold feels like it would make the area stand out.

Do you think maybe one sunflower in with a bunch of other wildflowers would work? They do white linens - I really hadn't even thought about a runner until it was mentioned here! My eye keeps getting drawn to the mint green and I'm not sure what clashes. Maybe a gold runner? I'm in Colorado and we get such pretty varieties of wildflowers of gold, orange, red, and pink.

Yes I think Gold will look great. And yes! I think mixed wild flowers would be pretty. My DH was suggesting bold colored flowers like orange so I think that would look pretty mixed with whites. A gold table runner would be fabulous!

The chairs are quite nice on there own, I don't think you need covers for them. The gray is neutral too! I like the idea of sunflowers, they're bright and cheery and perfect for summer. They would look nice with the green too!! The color of the walls is more muted which is nice because it won't take away from your decor. Here's a few photos I found that might help for inspiration with decor at your ceremony space. Maybe a floral printed aisle runner or flowers down the aisle? And you can line the rows with lanterns or flowers. Maybe large vases with flowers at the alter?
