Help- Wedding Planning Motivation!

cupcakecardinal, on July 7, 2017 at 6:18 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 10

I need help getting excited/motivated about wedding planning again. Last fall we started planning a wedding for 11/4/17. My mom's health was great! She was working full time despite having stage 4 lung cancer and we had no reason to believe she would not live to be at my wedding. Then, right before Christmas she had a stroke, and ever since then she just hadn't been the same. Around Easter we faced the sad reality that her health may only be declining. My FH and I excitedly planned for a smaller wedding on 6/30/17- which my family (mom included) believed that she would most definitely be alive to attend. Everything fell perfectly into place like it was meant to be. . . Until my mom went into the hospital and died two days later at the end of May. FH and I decided to go back to the original plan of getting married 11/4/17. However I am having a hard time getting back into the planning mood! FH has been great and I don't wanna postpone the wedding anymore. Any suggestions? TIA

Oh wow OP I'm sorry she passed away Smiley sad maybe you just need to give yourself sometime before you start planning again. You've got a good amount of time before you get married. If you want to start to keep busy I'd suggest booking a venue first.

We kept our venue, catering etc from our original planning. So we didn't cancel all that

This is always hard and I am so sorry for you. I would possibly think about setting up a memorial table at the wedding, maybe even save a seat for her and put her picture in it? I always like to think that every lobed one that's departed is watching over us.

What else do do you still have to plan? Maybe you can make a list and start dipping your toe back in?

Sooo sorry for you loss. You still have time for a break. My cousin is getting married next month on the 5th and her mom passed away last week.. I don't know what she's going through right now .. but anyways, just searching for inspiration or visuals on Pinterest, WW and other sites can motivate you.

I am so sorry OP. I can't imagine how difficult this must be. I think it is alright to take a short break from it all. It is understandable to grieve.

If you don't already have vendors I would start there. Without a venue there isn't really an official date. The vendors tab here on WW is super useful. You could send a few email out. Total low effort activity.

I wish you the absolute best.

Wow I'm so sorry! Is there some aspect of it you are most happy about? Maybe start with that and go from there
