Help! Wedding Dress Too Small!

Laura, on September 24, 2013 at 9:35 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9

I measured myself and ordered a dress recently from David's Bridal. However, when I got the dress and tried it on, it is seriously misfitting in the upper chest/shoulder region. The stomach area is perfect, but I am a seriously busty girl (F cup), and the bust and shoulders are about 6 inches too small on the dress.

My wedding is in 6 months and I don't think David's Bridal will take back the dress, so I need to get creative.

I'm thinking of converting the back from a zipper to a corset-style lace-up. Would this be the easiest solution?

Any help is appreciated!

Check first with David's Bridal to see if they can exchange it.

Corset will give some breathing room.. 6 inches though? That I don't know!

David's Bridal should be able to alter it or take back the dress for a new one. Do you have pics of the dress because i don't think a corset back works for all dresses.

Davids will let you exchange the dress as long as there are not alterations done yet.

Try laceeis corset kit, you can order it on amazon and a child can sew it in. I can barely sew a button and had no problem

Misty hit it on the spot. DB will exchange for another size as long as the dress has not been altered.

WOW I had the same problem with my dress from David's the problem was they could not get a larger size and it was a corset dress. I didn't want any of my back to show so that small piece would not pull over far enough for the corset to look nice and I was about 6 inches to small (Health issues caused a weight gain)

If you can convert it and it still look nice you should try it's not that hard and I actually fixed my dress with a little help from one of the ladies at JoAnn Fabrics.

If you ordered it in stores, you should be able to exchange it there. If it was online, you will need to look at their policies online, they are not the same warehouse. Not sure they can let it out 6 inches but they let out the top of my dress and it worked well when mine did not fit quite right. Good luck! Get in there ASAP to see what they can do!

I ordered a dress from db and decided I didn't want it. You have to request s code from them but it can be returned for a refund.
