Help! Venue falling apart

Courtney, on May 31, 2019 at 8:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Ladies, I need some help!! We fiancé and I won wedding venue back in Jan. We went and met with someone and they informed us all we had to pay for is the ceremony fee and the bar + food. Never told us, nor is it in our contract we signed to bring in outside food there was a $1000 fee to bring that in.. on top of that I have been trying to reach my planner at my venue for 2.5 weeks. I got a VM Monday from her, I called her right back. And she didn't email or call me until today knowing I have been trying to reach her to figure out what the hell is going on.. Once I finally got ahold of her I asked why it look so long for a response. She neglected to answer why it took so long and didn't even bother to apologize for the issue... Is it just me or is that super unprofessional??

I would run. This seems like a case of something being "free" and not actually free. I imagine they will continue to provide you poor service and upcharges.

Hannah, Don't they have to honor the contract they and I signed? I already made my deposit plus I am IN love with the venue... I reached out to her upper management, but I didn't know if I was maybe overthinking it. Just seemed super unprofessional to me!

You can argue about things not being in the contract, such as that fee. Make sure to read all the teeny tiny fine print. The communication issues are probably not going to improve though.

Extremely unprofessional. I would have used my insurance and replaced her and other issues

I’m so sorry you’re having to go through all of this unnecessary stress especially over a place you love. I would recommend trying very hard to go through upper management and especially if possible, inquiring about trying to get a new planner with the same company. Hopefully they can help and this situation gets better. ♥️

I did email her an ask for an appointment with her manager and her to discuss these issues. I really don't want to have to find another venue.. so I really hope we can work this out.. I guess I wanted to make sure I was not being rude or out of line in anyway by asking for an apt with upper managment.

Very unprofessional in my opinion. Reread the contract so it's fresh in your mind before you go, make a copy to bring with you. Ask about the fees ask if you can see a table of fees so you do not have surprises

I just saw in the additional fees section it says prices for catering are subject to change without any notice unless written in contract, or within 6 months of event. Otherwise they can change anything pricing wise without telling me before our 6 month mark.. We want to know an exact price of what we are paying for in advance without pricing going up every time we end up making a payment.. So I guess they technically are allowed to change the pricing. They should have put that in the section labeled OUTSIDE FOOD there is 1000$ fee for that... bummer...I think I will be looking for a new venue just in case.

No you are right that is super unprofessional. However do you have time to move your venue to some place else? If she is acting like his now with the poor communication and everything it's going to be worse when it gets closer to your wedding date. In my opinion I think you should just look for some place else and get any monies back that you have spent this far.
