Help! Table favors - are matches outdated?

Laura, on January 27, 2018 at 9:41 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 32
Hi WeddingWire community! I need help deciding on a table favor. So far, we've already booked a photo booth and have personalized treat bags to place next to my cookie table. However, a few people have been asking me what we're doing for table favors. I really love the idea of a "perfect match" match book (my parents had one - so it's sort of sentimental for me). Is this too outdated though? My FH thinks no one uses them anymore and they're from the 50s. I included a screenshot of one I really like and of our treat bags (our Etsy vendor did such a good job!) Thanks everyone!

Save the money. The cookie table and treat bags are enough. A lot of people don’t do table favors anymore since most favors are edible nowadays.

I think it's super cute! I don't think they are necessary.

I don't think they are necessary either. I think the photo booth and treat bags are good enough.

It’s very cute but I would never use it. If it made it home it’d get stuck in a drawer somewhere and never seen again. I would stick with what you already have.

Unpopular opinion but I would take them if they were available. They may be "outdated" but I always keep a box or two of matches around. That being said favors aren't necessary and you could save your money.

They are cute! It does really depend though on your budget. It sounds like you have already treated them to other things so I wouldn't worry about it and save the money. It's up to you!

They’re definitely not necessary (you’re giving plenty) but I do think they’re cute.

    Also...,i still use matches 😱

Like, I think matches are a practical item and of all the things you could put your name and date on, this is the best

I think the photo booth and treat bags are enough but I also don't think matches are outdated if you have your heart set on them. They're more useful than a lot of favors I've seen since they can be used for candles and such for people who don't smoke.

I would be a little surprised to see them since matches aren't commonly used anymore. But they're cute and I would take one. Unlike something more permanent such as a shot glass or a picture frame, this is something that I don't think people would mind having another couple's monogram on. They're definitely not necessary, but if you like them and want to get them, I say go for it!

I agree with you, I still have matches and would take them if offered. It's always good to keep matches around for emergency purposes.

Who doesn't use matches? You need to light candles sometimes, or a grill, the fire pit, and that stupid long lighter will inevitably be out when you need it. Maybe I'm nuts, but I would take some matches over cookies any day (but I don't really eat sugar). They can't be that expensive, if they're sentimental to you, I say do it.

You can save the money since it sounds like you have done enough already. Matches are nice, I would take them and use them :-)

Probably not necessary, but definitely useful! Now that i'm thinking about it, matches are probably one of the few favors I would use down the road. I keep them in a drawer and are the kind of thing that always comes in hand and you wish you had more of!

Same here! I would definitely take matches over cookies. We still use matches all the time, and we don’t really eat sweets.
Those treat bags are cute, though, and I’m sure they’ll be a hit either way!
