Help! Table favors - are matches outdated?

Hi WeddingWire community! I need help deciding on a table favor. So far, we've already booked a photo booth and have personalized treat bags to place next to my cookie table. However, a few people have been asking me what we're doing for table favors. I really love the idea of a "perfect match"...
Hi WeddingWire community! I need help deciding on a table favor. So far, we've already booked a photo booth and have personalized treat bags to place next to my cookie table. However, a few people have been asking me what we're doing for table favors. I really love the idea of a "perfect match" match book (my parents had one - so it's sort of sentimental for me). Is this too outdated though? My FH thinks no one uses them anymore and they're from the 50s. I included a screenshot of one I really like and of our treat bags (our Etsy vendor did such a good job!) Thanks everyone!

I wouldn't bother honestly. So many will get left behind! Put that $$$ towards food or something that will enhance your guests experience.

I totally still use matches for lighting candles at home!! I'd love this as a favor!

I'm doing them for my youngest daughter's reception. Mainly because my DH is setting up a cigar bar for the groom. We will have cigar lighters as well (not favors, just good lighters to use) but I thought the matches would make a nice touch, and even though I'm typically all for skipping favors, I personally would take the matches to keep by my candles. Since it has sentimental value to you, I would go for it!

We did matchbooks but just as kind of a supplementary favour, not enough for every single person. we had our favours next to the guest book for people to grab if they wanted them and the matches were one thing that we didn't have many leftover! depends on your crowd. i love them as a sort of traditional thing. ours were printed with our favourite 30 Rock quote (Love is patient, love is weird).

I'd rather get matches than some of the other silly favors I've seen at weddings, if we're talking about non-edible things. At least I can use matches, and I don't think there's any expectation by the couple that they will be kept forever, knowing that people will throw them away when the book is empty.

I love the match idea! We're doing a firefighter themed wedding, so it matches go perfeclty with the theme! People can use them around the house, or to keep in there car or purse for those unexpected moments when they need lighter!

I think these are adorable!! I'd love getting them as a favor Smiley smile

I do also agree that favors are absolutely unnecessary. If they work with your budget and you want them, then hell yes, these are too cute!! But if the answer to either of those is no, then no one will miss them.

I'm not sure if we will do favors at all, but matches are a contender. Everyone uses matches, or at least has a stash in case of a power outage. This is something I'd like to see the couple's name on as well. It's not right in your face every day like a wine glass, but it can make you smile when you pull them out to use once in a while!

I love favors and would totally take and use these. I think they are cute and if they are important and affordable for you, I say do it!
