Help planning day-of setup and teardown!

KZP1021, on August 26, 2017 at 10:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 5

Our venue just informed me they will be having an event the Friday before our wedding! This means we will not be able to set up anything until 9am the day of. We are doing a first look and getting all of our pictures done from 11am-2:30pm and the ceremony will be at our venue at 4pm. The venue said we can drop off anything that needs to be put on the tables on Thursday, and they are happy to put items on the tables for us if it's not too complicated. My FSIL is a talented florist and offered to do our décor, but they also have an in-house decorator who can have everything set up and torn down by her team (we also need to remove any items we bring ourselves by the end of the night). I wanted live flowers, so dropping things off on Thursday can likely not be done. I appreciate she is offering to do this for us, but I don't want her rushing around the day of our wedding decorating the hall. I want her to be able to enjoy the day too. (Continued below)

Having myself/bridesmaids or family running around setting up the morning of the wedding is out of the question. I wonder if we can get together on Friday and help her arrange/stage everything at our house, and possibly have the venue help her just place everything on the tables the next morning (they will already have the linens and some small décor such as candles/votives in place per in-house decorator). The other concern is I have vases and other miscellaneous items that will need to be removed by the end of the night. I also don't want to task family with this one, so I'm thinking of hiring a couple people to assist with this. I could potentially pay the in-house decorator to help with this too, but I'm not sure what she would charge (we are getting chairs from an outside vendor and she quoted $2/chair for setup and teardown - the outside vendor will do it for cheaper). Has anyone been through this? Any advice?

Yes, you are correct in not wanting any wedding guests to help you with setting up your wedding. They get to be guests. I would go with the in house decorator if it were me. Keep it simple.
