Help!! Need opinions.

We have decided to forgo the traditional big wedding. We are having a small wedding/planned elopement in Gatlinburg TN. Our parents will be there but we have told them they are not obligated to come if it will cause issues with finances. I have never had my make up professionally done and it scares me. Especially since I won't be able to have a trial run. The styles I like my best friend said with some practice I could get them down. Thing is I SUCK at make up, like I can put it on but I don't think it ever looks good. I have 2 places that have quoted my prices for hair and makeup. One was $110 for both or the other place $55 starting for hair and $35 for makeup. I guess my question is what are you planning to do?
As far as hair I have a few updos I like, and can do a trial with those at my hairdresser's in my home town to see if I like them on myself.

I'm pretty good at doing makeup, but I'm still getting my makeup professionally done! I just want to be pampered on the day of my wedding. Both of those prices are super good! A few makeup artists I talked to were $150+ just for day of makeup. I think doing a trial with your hairdresser in your hometown would be good because then you can at least see if the updo frames your face well! I'm doing my hair and makeup trial at the end of January for my Leap Day wedding. I'm doing my hair half up/half down with braids. I like updos, but I feel like they frame my face really weird!

I've picked a mix of both, I have a few updo low buns picked that I really really like! I'm thinking of instead of it all being pulled up adding a few tendrils to frame out my face. I think with makeup the only thing I'm afraid of is not liking the finished product. I don't really wear a lot as it is only when we are going out or for special occasions. So I was thinking keeping it subtle like I normally would. I figured I'd probably never have my makeup professionally done again so might as well pamper myself.

I didn't do make up at all. I've never really done make up or work make up. Just kept myself as I am, as I'll always be. And for hair I went to the salon.

That's where I'm torn, my FH says he likes how I do my make up and I'm afraid if I had it done it would look different or I would hate it. I may just stick with getting my hair done and do my makeup myself, especially since we only have a 30 minute time slot and not sure what we will be doing after.

I don’t know how to do my makeup, I can’t contour and forget about eye makeup, my depth perception is just sad. I’d poke my eye out! So I’m paying the salon I usually go to.

My regular(completely awesome) stylist is coloring my hair the week before and just curling my hair since I want it down. She’s only charging $30 for this and every time she curls my hair it looks so much fuller and gorgeous.
The salon is also giving my mom an updo($70) and doing my bridal makeup for $75, they have an airbrush option too I’m considering.

FH’s eyes pop out when I even wear a shade of lipstick, I’m super excited to show him my makeup!
Yeah I just never learned how to do makeup, my mom never wears any and I have really bad eyesight. I tried to do winged eyeliner once, never again!!

I want my makeup like this! Pastel shades, gorgeous blush, no heavy eye(maybe false lashes if they can use subtle ones)
then gorgeous long loose curls all down my back, my hair is long and I want to keep the length.

I was a HUGE tomboy growing up, plus like you my mom never really wore makeup, and I didn't have sisters or anything.

I love that! It's super pretty. My hair doesn't hold curl to save my life. I wanted my hair half up half down with loose curls but I decided against it. I'm afraid that once I take my veil off that my hair would be messed up and be a huge frizz ball.

I was one of those girls that wore the Bonniebell glitter chapstick and liked putting random glitter everywhere, lol. I liked to be girly but in an eccentric way I guess. My mom was and still is a huge tomboy! I offered to pay for her makeup too but she didn’t want any, I just want her to be comfortable. She looks great for her age so maybe she’s on to something!

Oddly enough, neither does mine! My stylist is magic or something. Every time I get my hair colored she curls and fluffs it for free. It always looks 5x more thick! and the curls last all day even at work. I’m hoping she can figure out how to keep my veil attached because my hair is too slippery.
Your bun would look cute with pieces on the side framing your face! I love a slightly loose bun, you could even stick little flowers in it to hold it together(and look more pretty)

I am in a similar situation: having a micro-wedding in a small town approximately 1300 miles away from home, so I won't be able to go in for a make-up trial (I can't seem to find any local vendors anyway), and I'm not going to fly anyone in for that...so I am just watching a lot of YouTube tutorials and practicing. EEK!!! Smiley laugh

Fortunately, my sister will be there to help with my hair (she's always been good at that)

It's so scary! I know for sure I'm getting my hair done, but still just so torn on makeup. I think I may just try some YouTube tutorials and if I still feel like I can't get it add on make up. We still have 8 months till our wedding, but wanted to get stuff booked.

THANK YOU!!!! I fell in LOVE with this up-do a year ago when my FH first purposed. I had it saved and it popped up a few more times when I wasn't so sure how I wanted to do my hair. Then I was browsing through the App the other day after I downloaded it and there it was! So I decided it was a sign that I should keep to that hairstyle.
