Help!! My dress didn’t fit!

Alexandra, on September 17, 2019 at 4:42 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
Hi fellow brides and soon to be brides,
I ordered my dress at BHLDN, and the last suggested a size 0, which I ended up ordering but when I got it in which I was so
excited because it came in on my year to my wedding date exactly, but the inside zipper of my gown that makes it look like a corset wouldn’t zip! I reached out, the lady said I can return it and order a new size but the new dress won’t come in until November! Will I still have time to get it altered, my wedding is September 17, 2020!

That is plenty of time for alterations. I had to have a lot done to my dress because I am 4' 11" and less than 100 lbs and it still only took 4 weeks for mine from start to finish

You’ll definitely have time! It’s not advisable to start alterations until 2-3 months before the wedding.

I started alterations yesterday for my wedding in November. I wouldn't start more than 3 months out. 9 months is more than enough time.

Yes. Absolutely. That’s still almost a years time. Don’t try and squeeze yourself into something that doesn’t fit. You’ll have an awful wedding day if you can’t breathe.

I agree with all above. You will have ample time for alterations. BHLDN is super easy to work with. Good luck!

I started my alterations on August 29th & our wedding is October 12th. I did two appointments & the dress is just about complete. I pick it up on September 28th.

Absolutely, I started alterations 8 weeks out they were finished 2/3 weeks before the wedding. Alterations don’t take as long as you think!

You have time! I took my dress to alterations about a month before my wedding (it’s coming up in October). I took mine to a small tailoring business though, so she’s not as busy as some bridal shops might be. My dress wouldn’t close in my love handle area. She was able to let it out some & is making some fabric to sew on the inside lining (I guess the inside lining of the dress didn’t have as much fabric as the outside lace). She also has to take it in the under arm area, add a bustle, take in the shoulders, and make it shorter.
