Help! My bust is too small!

brister30, on May 12, 2016 at 9:21 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 29

I had my second fitting yesterday in my wedding dress, and the bust of the dress is slightly too big (I forgot to take a pic). Basically, the dress is indented since my boobs won't fill it out. Apparently it is difficult to fix due to the boning.

The dress already has a cup sewn in, but they suggested adding a second one upside down to fill out the cup. Has anyone else had this problem? Or have any suggestions? Hate having to deal with this so close to the wedding day...

    I would trust your seamstress.

Try drinking papaya milkshake once a week. That's what I drink. Smiley winking

E&M what does papaya have to do with it? Seriously I went from a D to barely a B due to running, please tell me if papaya is magic boob food...

Ohhhh E&M! Please enlighten us on this papaya milkshake you drink. I could use some magic boob food as well Smiley winking

Anyway OP, I would say add the second cup if that's what your seamstress suggests. They do this for a living. It'll be just fine!

As the self-proclaimed president of the IBTC, I second the seamstress' suggestion. I'm barely an A-cup. Wear a padded bra and use a cup upside down. IT WORKS WONDERS! And since the rest of the dress will be tailored to you, you won't have to worry about it slipping out.

I've noticed that mine increase in size when I have papaya milkshakes. This was one of those Chinese things my mom told me while growing up.

Yeah I guess they just didn't seem very confident during the fitting so that made me more nervous than if they had said it will be perfectly fine!

I just want to say your bust isn't too small. I hear ya that they don't fill out your dress, but that doesn't mean they're generally too small. I love having small boobies!

About your dress: have you asked a second seamstress? Someone else might have another option for you that doesn't involve papaya smoothies or sewing in extra cups. I had to get extra cups sewn into a bridesmaid dress once, and I thought I looked so weird because of the boobs.

There was a second seamstress there (this is at the bridal salon, where I bought the dress) - she suggested the same thing, also trying to press the dress so it was smooth rather than puckering. I do have an illusion neckline, so it isn't as noticeable as a strapless dress, but still!

I would have thought they'd be able to alter the bust to bring it in or something. I don't know!

I would definitely trust your seamstress, they know what to do as they have seen it ALL before! I'm hoping my exercising drops weight from my saddle bags and not my boobs!

Your dress is beautiful! I fear I am going to have the same problem. I'm worried if something gets put in the cups it will look unnatural, but you just need to have faith in your seamstress. It's obviously a problem they have solved before and they seem confident in the solution.

I went out and bought the silicon inserts, which I will use in conjunction with sewn in cups. They made a huge difference for me.

The silicone cups that @Minerva is what I'm referring to. They don't look unnatural at all...they just fill in that extra space that a tailor can't take in without ruining the dress.

Interesting, I have a fitting tomorrow - this should be the first with the cups sewn in. I may need the chicken cutlets too since I'm a AA. I just want to look more proportionate - everyone knows I'm flat as a pancake.

Small boobs here too. At least they are small compared to the rest of me. I had to order my dress in a 22 to fit my hips and butt, but I'm swimming in the top of it. Haven't gotten it altered yet but I'm dreading it
