Help!! Mini-moon Ideas after recent micro-wedding (with larger wedding next year) - Located In Philadelphia

Laura, on May 30, 2021 at 11:18 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
My husband (!!) and I had our micro-wedding last week with our larger wedding, what we are calling “Macro-Wedding,” planned for August 2022 (yay COVID). After the micro-wedding we quickly went back to work and normal life as we are planning on a honeymoon after the larger wedding but are realizing we really need a short trip to celebrate the fact we are married. The day went by so quick, and going back to normal life right away just wasn’t the greatest idea - but here we are.

So we want to plan a 3-5 day trip somewhere. We live in Philadelphia and are okay with flying. We want it to feel special and are okay splurging a bit - but don’t want to go crazy since we are paying for a larger wedding and honeymoon next year.
There’s a resort that’s beautiful in the poconos (Lodge at Woodloch) but it’s booked until September and we want to celebrate soon. Anyone have any recommendations? We’re thinking the finger lakes or finding an all inclusive in Florida or something - but really have no idea where to start!

You can check out Lake George or maybe another resort in the Poconos. There's also a resort in NJ called Crystal Springs, which is absolutely gorgeous (I went there for a wedding before). These are all options if you want something driving distance. Florida can be nice to, or Virginia Beach or South Carolina.

Check Airbnb’s. We just went to Ohiopyle pa for a short mini moon, and found it via an Airbnb rental.

What about the Mohonk Mountain Lodge in NY? Otherwise, I second the recommendation for an AirBnB in the Poconos!

We're doing a "mini moon" in the Finger Lakes. Eloped during Covid last year and are having our wedding celebration this year but still don't feel like things are quite where we want them to be to be able to safely and thoroughly enjoy a big trip with the timeframe we have (my ideal would be an international trip, Iceland is high on my list, but we considered Nova Scotia and Belize as well). Its about a 5 hour drive for us and a good mix of outdoor stuff (which we enjoy), plus vineyards/wineries, and some cute towns with restaurants and other light touristy stuff.

Within driving distance, I would recommend the Poconos (PA), Finger Lakes, Lake George, the Catskills (all NY), or perhaps a NJ shore destination.

If you are able to fly I'd consider where you can get quick/direct flights to. Sedona (AZ) is awesome (fly in to Phoenix and drive). We did an AZ trip (from NH) for 5 days with time spent in Sedona and Flagstaff and a daytrip to see the Grand Canyon and it was the perfect amount of time but we did it in November and I'm not sure I'd want to do it this time of year.

Other outdoorsy 5 day options (where I feel like you could spend 5 days in one area and not have it feel too short or too long) we considered were Acadia NP (Maine), Yosemite (CA), or Tetons/Yellowstone (Wyoming), but none of those are particularly easy to fly to and we'd spend a full day traveling, which is why we ended up nixing them.
