Help me choose a hotel!

Virginia, on January 29, 2020 at 10:59 AM Posted in Planning 0 10

I am torn between 2 hotels and I really need some opinions. Which one would you book? We will be providing a shuttle for our guests.

Option A

Rate: $135/night

Distance to venue: 15 minutes (will be longer at rush hour...potentially 30 mins)

Bar open with $150 fee

Option B

Rate: $108/night

Distance from venue: 24 minutes (will be longer at rush hour...potentially 40 mins)

Bar open for free

I guess my big concern is how long it will take to get to the venue during rush hour.

If this is for your guests I would give them both options and just do a courtesy block at both.

I think it may depend on your guests. What is more important to them — cost, distance or free liquor? I know for me, I’d rather be closer (I’m always teased about being willing to pay for convenience), but some of my friends and family members would rather pay less. And others will make a decision based on the booze. Smiley smile

Well the liquor isn't free. It's just to keep the bar open. I feel like distance is irrelevant when I am paying for their ride to the venue. I don't know. Ugh. I need to decide and get these invites out!

I’d say option A. B looks way too far!

Then I would choose the closest one.

I would block rooms at both. Pay for the shuttle for the hotel that is farther away, and guests who stay at the closer one can Uber if they want to stay there. But that way you can shuttle everyone back to the hotel that has the after party and again if guests don’t want to stay there they can Uber to the other hotel. That way your guests have an option.

    Closer is better!
You can direct guests looking to save toward the cheaper hotel , but have the shuttle go to the closer hotel only. I’d generally rather pay for the more expensive hotel with a ride included than save the money and sort of transportation, but, I like to drink at weddings and I like convenience! I definitely had some guests who are frugal and not big drinkers who still might stay at a cheaper hotel and just drive themselves to and from
