HELP! FATHER/DAUGHTER SONG NEEDED FOR DANCE!

Samantha, on June 2, 2016 at 8:56 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 14

Hi there!

I am having trouble finding a song for the father/daughter dance. I love my father to death, but it was not always like that growing up. My mom raised me, she will be walking me down the isle. I am close with my father, it's just not like I want to have a "daddy's little girl" type of song or "I hope my husband is just like you" type of song. Does that make sense? The only thing I have found compatible would be My Wish by Rascal Flatts but I do not really want to use that song.

Help Please!

We're using Stevie Wonder, "isn't she lovely". My FH will be dancing with his daughter. My father passed 5 yrs ago.

Hmm, I think I'm going with my girl from the temptations and I'm not exactly daddy's little girl.

Tough Little Boys by Gary Allan. If you can stand country, it's actually a cute song.

Im going with iris by the goo goo dolls. Or something by pearl jam. I don't want a country or stupid sappy song.

It doesn't always have to be a "daddy's girl" type song. I've been to two weddings where they did other songs. The first one, the bride and her dad were very close--they had actually gone to Ireland together on vacation because the dad was of Irish heritage. I worked with her and she had invited us all to her wedding (very small group of us); we all bawled our eyes out. Another friend's daughter and her dad danced to "Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. They were close, too--she was the baby of the family and the only girl. So you can find a song that doesn't get all gooey about father/daughter love. I understand what you mean---if I was young and my dad still alive, it would be hard to find something because my dad was kind of cold--seems like he never spoke to us except to scold us or find fault. Good luck!

    WHY ARE YOU YELLING?

Ask your dad. I'm not that close to him but I wanted him to feel special still since I'm having both parents walk me down the aisle.
