HELP!! Does Rockleigh Country club = BIG ITALIAN WEDDING?

Jessica, on April 26, 2016 at 11:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 9

Hi So I just got engaged and I am starting to look at different wedding venues in north Jersey. I have a big Italian family and food is at the top of our list! We want a pretty big cocktail hour with all types of food, a good amount of entree choices and a beautiful place. I went to go see Rockleigh country club and I am in love! But I am nervous about the food not being enough and not being as Italian. Has anyone been to a wedding at Rockleigh and what do you think of the food? Any other places you may recommend that is as beautiful as Rockleigh and gives an insane amount of too. Rockleigh is pretty expensive I want to make sure I’m getting something over the top for what I am paying.

I would definitely check out The Venetian in Garfield, NJ. They are known for their outrageous cocktail hour, and for their "Italian vibe." Florentine Gardens, Seasons, Nanina's in the Park are all good follow-ups as well.

Hi Jessica, welcome to WW! Make sure to upload a picture for your avatar (instead of the default icons) so that we can get to know you and tell you apart from all the other posters. You can do this on a desktop computer or a mobile browser (just not on the app) under My Settings and Profile and Privacy Settings.

They have a ton of awesome reviews on WW, and a lot of the reviews seem to be raving about the food: https://www.weddingwire.com/reviews/rockleigh-country-club-rockleigh/7128c37fdd9d5cd3.html

I totally love the Rockleigh, and we are there all the time. It's a beautiful choice by all accounts, but I would also check out all the places that Aimee recommended as well as Macaluso's in Hawthorne.

I was also just at the Valley Regency and their cocktail hour was great too.

Wait a second....2019? Will they even book that far out?

Check out the Brown Stone in Paterson too. I've been to a wedding there and the food is insane.

Celia- So glad to hear I really am in love with the Rockleigh its everything I pictured my wedding to be its just the food I'm worried about. I have family members that have been to weddings there but 10 years ago so its hard to judge the place based on their experience (they loved it). I love the all white rooms with the gorgeous chandeliers which Rockleigh has. Yes so we are open to 2018 however, being how expensive Rockleigh is we are thinking about doing 2019 just so we can also get a house as well. (too much money being spent at once lol isn't easy) =/

I have checked out a few of those places. I liked them all but non of them really stood out as much as Rockleigh. I wasn't crazy about the look of the venetian it had a little too much brown going on in the lobby and the palazzo room was to big for my amount of guest and the other room had to much gold going on lol ( yes I am a very picky bride) thats why I'm having such a hard time. The menu at Venetian was amazing though. I also checked out their sister place SEASONS which was much more calmer in decor however the grounds were not very big at all.

I am actually checking out today a new place being build called Park Chateau its the same owners as Naninas on the Park and Park Savoy. Its suppose to be beautiful however they are not done building it yet and don't have many pictures to show. so will see! T

Thank you! please if anyone else has any other recommendations similar to Rockleigh please let me know as well as what you think of Rockleigh's food and service =)

    Super excited!!

Does it have to be that far north? The owners of The Venetian bought Shadowbrook in the Freehold area back in late 2014/early 2015. I went to a wedding there a year ago, and the food and service were fantastic. Best cocktail hour I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot. Shadowbrook might be smaller and has a more garden vibe. It also might be less expensive.

Oh, and the food was very Italian. Our plated appetizer was a ball of burrata inside a half of a fresh tomato. OMG

Food at the Venetian is incredible. Seasons is owned by the same company and is a beautiful space as well.
