Help Choosing Snacks

Dania, on June 18, 2020 at 9:02 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 1 10
Hi everyone!

So FH and I have decided to forego a traditional reception, and just have a table with snacks and a few simple hors d'oeuvres after the ceremony. We've decided instead to put the bulk of the funds towards our new home together and our honeymoon. Does anyone have any suggestions of what snacks and hors d'oeuvres we could include?

Fruit and veggie platters, like Melle said, but also protein trays, an assortment of crackers and cheeses, maybe??

Congratulations! Lots of exciting things happening for you! 🎉🎉🎉

Are you catering yourself (typically only allowed at a backyard party since most venues including community centers require a licensed caterer) or having a pro? If you are DIY, get heat and serve appetizers from the frozen section at Costco, along with their party platters, and hire a couple college kids to prepare and set them out.

I really love a good meat and cheese board, fruit, veggie platter, meatballs, stuffed mushrooms, sliders and definitely something sweet (mini cheese cakes or cup cakes?) These are just ideas... wouldn't have to do all of them.

Some friends of ours put together amazing (totally Pinterest worthy) charcuterie boards for their backyard reception with a variety of cheeses, crackers, salami, olives, nuts, grapes, cherries, jams, it’s honestly hard to remember everything. Definitely think about how hungry people will be based on when your ceremony is and when the reception ends to decide how heavy the appetizers should be, but the options are really limitless. Good luck!

We had a cheese and cracker tray, lunch meat tray with rolls, fruit tray, and maybe include like a mini dessert tray too.

Heavy, filling appetizers. Is your reception during a meal time, is it longer than 2 hours? People will be pretty hungry 11-1 for lunch, 5-7 for dinner so if it crosses over those times at all I'd just budget for a full meal instead. I'd serve things like sliders, meatballs, etc. so people can have a few if they are hungry. I'd also put it on the invites so people know to eat before.

Hey. We won't be having a reception. Just a table with snacks after the ceremony. We'd let them know beforehand that there won't be a reception.
