head table or no

About2bMrs.T, on March 15, 2013 at 6:54 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

So here is my issue as of right now. I am in the middle of trying to decide if we are going to do a head table or not... I personally dont like being stared at all evening.. it one thing for glances or watching us during the wedding dance. But again all of our bridal party has hubbys or wifes. I feel weird asking them to sit apart for the evening.. what would your suggestions be?

We are doing a sweetheart table for that reason. I would rather let the WP sit with their dates.

We are doing a sweetheart as well. Another option is to just sit with your guests

You can just sit with your family or just with the guests in general in the round tables so you won't be on spotlight.

Another suggestion would be to do a head round table. Just sit with your wedding party and their spouses at a table instead of a long one sided table.

How large is your WP? If it's small enough, you can have a head table that includes WP and their spouse/guest.

We are doing one large family table for our WP and their dates.. should be ~18 total. We didn't want to be on display for everyone to see and we wanted to sit with our WP and their dates. This way we're all seated around the table (like our guests will be seated around round table)..

We are having a family table. In the restaurant, there is a huge bench area that seats like 18 people. So my FW and I will sit in the middle with no chairs in front of us. The rest of the table will be banquet style. People on both sides all the way down, as with the rest of the tables throughout the remainder of the restaurant

We are doing a family table. Our WP is mostly family so we are having our 2 friends sit with the rest of the guests. Our immediate family will be sitting with us. We didn't want a sweetheart table because we don't want to make guests feel like they can't approach us and dont want to feel like we are on display

Regardless of how you set it up, your guests will be staring at you--you're the bride and groom! They will find ways to look at you, get pics, etc.

That being said, we're planning to have a head table with all of the wedding party on it. The rest of the tables will be banquet-style.

I think the sweetheart table is a nice idea but I think it depends on the venue. I wanted a sweetheart table but I decided, based on my reception room that it wasnt a good idea. I am going to sit with my brothers, one of their girlfriends, and my best friend and her boyfriend and throw in a few more people. Why not just sit with who you want and let the bridal party sit somewhere else.

I hate head tables... they're so uncomfortable and its really hard to talk to anyone AND you get separated from your date (as a bp member)

So we are doing a sweetheart table and then having a groomsman and dates table on one side of us and bridesmaid and dates table on the other. I think I'll have my brother at it as well.... And then my parents and grandparents table will be close too.

But I will say people will stare and will interrupt. You're the bride! Try not to let it bother you and just enjoy the time you have with everyone.

I would say no if you don't want it. I am not too keen on everyone staring at FH and I while we eat either. What is a sweetheart table? And I LOVE the idea of having WP sit around a table instead. Think I will do this too.

Whatever you do, don't separate couples.

We had a round table for us, MOH and her husband, BM and his wife, and our parents. Everyone else was at other round tables.

When I was a MOH/BM sometimes I sat at the table with the couple, sometimes I sat with guests. Both are fine as long as I got to sit with my date.

@Julianna, a sweetheart table is a table just for the couple.
