He doesn't want to wear a wedding ring

My fiance doesn't want to wear a wedding band because he doesn't like jewelry (he won't even wear a watch). He has suggested that instead of wearing a wedding band, he could get a tattoo ring. My fiance doesn't want to wear a wedding band because he doesn't like jewelry (he won't even wear a watch). He has suggested that instead of wearing a wedding band, he could get a tattoo ring. I definitely don't want him to do that because I think they look dumb. I asked him what he'd do if we ever got divorced and he remarried -- his response was that he'd have to wear a ring over the tattoo ring. I totally understand where he's coming from though, because I don't like jewelry either (he proposed to me with his mom's ring and was going to let me pick out my own engagement ring but I told him I didn't want one) but I have decided that I will suck it up and wear a wedding ring. I guess I just feel a little lost. Should I try to talk him into wearing a wedding band?

Fh won't wear his at work. And he strongly suggests the women he works with not to either. He is a chef. For the women he made a spot in his budget to purchase inexpensive chains for them to wear their rings on while in the kitchen.

I'm him. My fiance hates the idea. I hates rings. Everybody is different

I thought about a tattoo ring because rings have always been really physically uncomfortable for me, and then I discovered square rings (I highly recommend Anne Holman on Etsy). W wears her ring on a chain around her neck instead of on her finger because a few months before the wedding we discovered it was what had been causing the persistent pain in her shoulder -- nerves are weird.

If you don't like jewelry either, and he doesn't care (because he's not wearing it himself), why would you wear a wedding band?

I don't think a wedding band is necessary. But it seems odd that you'd feel the need to wear one yourself under these circumstances.

You should try talking to him if it bother you. And try to compromise and let him pick out a ring that he like. Most men don't like jewelry and would not wear it. Mine the same way but I bought him a ring that he love and hes been wearing it lol is a batman wedding ring.

Maybe look into getting him something semi inexpensive for Amazon or a rubber ring

DH didn't want a ring but changed his mind when he found one he liked. I wasn't opposed to it either way, but I did want him to have something symbolic for the ceremony. He never took his ring off after the ceremony, until October when he wanted to get it cleaned and it went down the drain Smiley sad

I told him he didn't need to get a new one, that if he decided not to wear one its fine. He is an electrician and it can be dangerous. After two months of not having one, he felt it was important to him to get a new one and he is so happy with his choice and doesn't try to take it off.

All in all, in those two months without one, my husband was no less my husband without a ring.

It depends.. Someone in jokingly manner asked me what I would do if my fiance wouldn't wear his wedding band.. My response was "Well, if he isn't going to wear his, then I'm not wearing mine (even though it's gorgeous)"

I agree with Princess Consuela ^

I don't know that I'd bother me at all. I mean as long as you both love each other you're good. It's not like once you're not wearing the ring you will suddenly forget your married.

But maybe try getting him a silicone ring instead they don't really feel like anything and look way more manly in my opinion.

If it is extremely important to you for him to wear a ring express that to him. I know my dad never wore a wedding band because his job was physically demanding. One guy at his job got his wedding ring caught in equipment and nearly lost a finger. i think a tattoo idea is great!

DH has one, no objections about wearing it, he just forgets to put it on after his morning shower about 50% of the time. Its a running joke for us. I don't care either way. We are married regardless of if he is wearing a ring or not.

Not wearing a wedding ring will not make him any less married! My FH will not be wearing his most of the time as it would be an occupational hazard. He will wear it for special occasions/out to dinner/vacations

FH is a welder and absolutely cannot wear a metal...well, anything...but much less a metal ring on his finger. We got him a simple tungsten wedding band with an engraving on the inside AND a silver colored silicon ring. I'm sure they'll both sit in his dresser 95% of the time!

My FH is going to wear one, but he's already warned me that he will leave it home when he goes golfing--he doesn't even wear a watch when he golfs! And that's okay with me.

I don't understand his thought process. He wants a tattoo wedding band because he doesn't like jewelry. However if you guys ever divorced and he remarried he said he would wear a wedding band to cover the tattoo?????? What???? That would have honestly made me mad?

It sounds like you wrote this because you would like him to wear a ring. If that's the case then yes you should talk to him about it more.

My fiance does not wear jewelry either. It will bother me if he didn't wear his wedding band. So I tried a different approach. After he proposed to me. I proposed to him. He wears his E band faithfully! So I know I will not have a problem with him wearing his wedding band.

My dad doesn't have a wedding ring - he and mum have been married for forty years. Prince William apparently doesn't wear one either. My husband wasn't sure but decided he wanted one, and found a very cool tungsten ring with carbon fiber inlay - but he doesn't wear it most of the time, just when we go out generally. Doesn't bother me or make us any less married.

My FH is picking out a silicone ring so it'll be safer to wear at work (he works in a warehouse). Looking online, they're around $20. Is that something he might be willing to try?
