Hi everyone! I would love your opinion. FH’s family is planning our honeymoon and I am sooooo excited. My future father in law has reservations on hold in Maui and Aruba. He wants us to look at both resorts and decide! The thing is they’re both really nice and I can’t decide! If you’ve been to...
Hi everyone! I would love your opinion. FH’s family is planning our honeymoon and I am sooooo excited. My future father in law has reservations on hold in Maui and Aruba. He wants us to look at both resorts and decide! The thing is they’re both really nice and I can’t decide! If you’ve been to either, could you let me know why you loved it? If you’ve been to both, which would you recommend? So the flight to Hawaii is much longer, being that we’re on the east coast. However, I heard that it’s worth it!!! I would love to know your opinions! Our honeymoon will be 8 days.

That’s a really good point! I know Aruba is much easier (and affordable) to go to, so maybe Hawaii is the better option! Thank you! Also, love the idea of Greece! Such a beautiful place. I went there a few years ago, you’ll love it!

It’s a good idea to make some reservations beforehand. If it’s a busy week then it can be tough to get in at a normal hour.

Faro Blanco- light house restaurant at sunset (beautiful views from a higher up point)

    Papiamento

    Madame Janettes

    yemanja

Quinta del Carmen (10/10) by far the best!

Aruba can be pricey but the difference is that Aruba has all inclusive resorts where as hawaii doesn’t .. also I LOVED Antigua - PERFECT honeymoon spot and you get so much bang for your buck

I haven’t been to either and I may be biased because we’re going to Hawaii for our honeymoon!! We did research Aruba though and I think it’s so beautiful, definitely on my list of places to see! I’ve done a lot of research on Hawaii and I think it’s the perfect honeymoon because you can get the touristy feel, beach and romantic getaway all in one 😊

Just a heads up about Tropicana-- when we went in January, since it was a timeshare, there were a lot more mature people than we anticipated. Think bingo and aqua exercises. We honestly didn't mind, the resort did its purpose, we slept early, just may be a little different than you may expect! It was quite modest, not super fancy. There wasn't much partying on site but there's lots down on eagle beach strip so check that out. Anyway if you are looking for a more glamorous thing I would check out some other hotels just to see, especially if you're trying to do all inclusive!

Another thought I had was I went with my best friend years back to playa del Carmen to an adults only all inclusive resort with amaaazing food, Playa del Carmen La Perla. Check it out if it's something else on your list!

While I've never been to Hawaii, I can confidently say that Aruba is my favorite vacation spot of all time. It may be helpful for you to check out these Honeymoon guides on Aruba, Hawaii, and specifically Maui! What types of activities would you like to do while on your honeymoon? Maybe that can help you narrow it down! Smiley smile

Agree with all of this. There is tons to do in Aruba. We have been numerous times and don't tire of it. You can do as much or as little as you want. The weather is almost always nice, and it's outside of the hurricane belt, which might be important in your case.

Thank you for the heads up! That's good to know. That might actually be a good thing...FH and I are not party people. I would consider us more introverts LOL. However, that's great to know that if we did want to go out and party a few of the nights that there's a lot on eagle beach strip! What would you say is the best transportation method? My FH's father is planning the honeymoon so I will let him choose as far as the resort, I'll honestly be happy with whatever he decides! We may plan a vacation for our first year anniversary, so that might be the time to spoil ourselves with a nice trip. I'll check out Playa del Carmen!

I have not been to Hawaii yet but I absolutely love Aruba. My desktop picture on my work computer is a view of the water so I can imagine myself back there again haha.
You will not be disappointed if you go with Aruba!

Thank you, Brittany! You're totally right about the hurricane belt. Anywhere else in the Caribbean would not be a choice for October lol. I'm happy to hear there's tons to do in Aruba! So excited!

We are going to Maui & Oahu for our honeymoon. I haven't been to Aruba, I've only been to Cabo outside the U.S. I'm not sure how Aruba is, I just didn't like the feeling of Cabo. We basically were contained to the small city of Cabo and the touristy things around there. We are SO excited to go to Hawaii, even though it's more expensive I think it'll be worth it.

You'll absolutely love Hawaii! I went when I was a little younger, but still remember it. No other place can compare, it's absolutely beautiful! That's interesting to hear about Cabo. I'll have to see how that compares to Aruba!

Oh yes, just seeing now that you'll be going in October. Aruba and Curacao are out of the hurricane belt so both are great choices.

We used a bus transfer to the hotel, I think we got it on TripAdvisor, it took a while but you get to check out all the different hotels people are staying at.

If you can rent an ATV I would definitely recommend, we only did for a half day, and we were there for a week. Otherwise you can take cabs that your hotel can call. I believe cabs are cash only.

You don't need to necessarily change your money to Arubian Florens, as they do take USD. There's an epic grocery store within walking distance to Tropicana, check it out for fun if you want.

Other tips: You should get towel clips. They sell them there but it's pleasantly breezy in Aruba.

First year anniversary would be cool to check out Hawaii/Playa del Carmen/other spots.

    Enjoy!
