Having Wedding Dress Regrets/second thoughts

One of my bridesmaids says this is just pre-wedding jitters, another says I still have time to get another dress. One of my bridesmaids says this is just pre-wedding jitters, another says I still have time to get another dress. I keep looking at pics of the dress I ordered back in May and while I loved it then, I'm feeling remorse now after seeing so many other pics of other options out there.

You see, I bought my dress in somewhat of a hurry. My mother was diagnosed with a large brain tumor, and insisted we go dress shopping before her surgery. I did feel pressured to say yes to the dress that day, though I kept going back to this dress over and over after trying about 7 options on that day.

I've already paid 75% of the dress and it comes in next month; my wedding is on 6/23/2018. Has this happened to anyone?! I'm not sure what to do... it just doesn't feel/look as elegant and breathtaking as I first thought when I tried it back in May. Sigh.

Anyone else have this feeling before? Will it go away? Is there another option?

It's a beautiful dress and the look on your face when you are wearing it says it all, it was meant for you Smiley smile

You look stunning in the dress. I am also guilty of following bridal accounts and what not. It makes it a little easier when you remove yourself from those accounts.

I LOVE your dress! I think it's a showstopper, so I wouldn't worry about that aspect! It looks amazing on you.

Based on your pictures, obviously, you and your mom knew it was the perfect dress at the time you chose it. It is a beautiful dress, and you look gorgeous in it, despite the fact that the sample was huge on you. I cannot even imagine how much more stunning it is going to be when it fits your perfect figure correctly! It is elegant, and classy, and absolutely appropriate for your formal venue. When it's been altered to fit you, you can decide about possibly adding jewelry, a hairpiece, or other embellishment to give it a little "bling," if you think it needs it. Personally, I am a BIG fan of "less is more" -- you are a beautiful woman who will be wearing a gorgeous gown, I'm pretty sure everyone at your wedding is going to see only that! Smiley smile

I agree with pp's -- STOP looking at other dresses and trust yours (and your mom's) first instincts!

That's a beautiful dress and it looks gorgeous on you. I think we put too much pressure on ourselves with respect to the dress. Trust yourself that you made a good decision and move on! Definitely stay off the 'gram

I have a feeling that when you get to try it on again, you'll fall in Love all over again. If this doesn't happen, then consider getting something you'll without a doubt feel amazing in. Otherwise I'd wait to reconnect with the dress youve already picked.

Thank you all, I really appreciate it! I definitely think fit is what's throwing me off, as well. One of my bridesmaids and I found the same dress when we were veil shopping, but in a size 12 (I'm trying a size 10 in those pics. Initially I was so excited to find another sample of my dress to try on with veils, until she started showing me pics. The fit was so awful (especially in the boobs) I think I started panicking little by little ever since.

I'm going to unfollow all the Bridal accounts and try not to worry about it too much until my dress comes in next month and I get to try it on!

I bought a dress at the end of February. I was not feeling well that day and made a hasty decision and regretted it almost immediately! I had to pay for the dress in full to have them order it, so I paid the amount and went home. Once I saw the pictures I was horrified and couldn't believe I had done that. Two months later I found another dress and fell in love and purchased that one. The first dress has come in. I haven't looked at it or picked it up. I am going to sell that dress and try to get some of my money back! Your dress is beautiful but if you aren't happy with it and are having doubts, try on some others and see if that changes your mind.

Oh wow TammyW, I can't imagine how you felt! Wedding dress shopping while ill is no fun. I was in a bit of a hurry as we had shopped on a work lunch break of mine, my mother wasn't well, and I did want to see her happy with me saying "yes" and not having to bounce around from shop to shop.

I remember loving the dress when I put it on, so I hope it's like everyone said here that I'm just getting overwhelmed with bridal accounts, and that when it actually fits on me in my size I'll fall in love again. Otherwise yes I suppose it's back to the drawing board, but I would only have 7 months at that point to order a dress in time for the wedding!

You look amazing! I think what could be throwing you off is that dress you tried on is clearly too big. I think once your dress comes in and fits you like a glove you will feel amazing in it!

Cheers to being wedding day twins also Smiley smile

The dress is stunning. I had dress regret for a few months then I got my hair done in a style similar to how I plan to wear it for the wedding, put on my dress with my veil and felt a complete sense of calm. It reinforced I selected the right dress.

Your dress looks great! I think a lot of people experience some sort of dress regret because you are still seeing a ton of beautiful dresses (especially on this website). Once your actual dress comes in in your size, I'm sure you will feel a lot better about your choice again.

@Alyssa - Aww yay! :-) What a perfect date :-P And very good point. I think the size 12 threw me off because the bra cups are SO big, they look ridiculous from the side!

@ J. Clo - very good idea! I'll have to try it on with makeup done, jewelry and veil to reinforce. I already bought the shoes for it, too! So maybe putting it all together will reinforce my decision? Here's hoping! It's a gorgeous dress, sometimes I just hope it's what my FH envisioned me in and that he's not disappointed it's not a poofy ballgown.

I think that dress looks amazing on you. Once it fits right I bet you will fall in love with it all over again. I wouldn't worry about what your FH is "used to". He is marrying you for a reason and whatever you wear he will still think that your are the most beautiful person in the world.

@Luna to be - that is a very good point! I guess I need to stop trying to fit into this "ideal" bride and remember why I fell in love with the dress in the first place!

Sarah, it is beautiful! I was sucked into the ideal bride with ruffles and lace that wasn't for me. I am going to buy my third dress today and its my dream. I just posted about it a few hours ago.
