Having second thoughts on Venue

For about the past 3 weeks I have been worried that we may have chosen the wrong venue. Its a banquet hall with a small outside terrace attached. We're getting married in Chicago on Friday and I didn't think much about traffic. Our venue is in a suburb about 45 min away. Im really worried about our guest dealing with traffic. There are other things about the banquet hall itself Im concerned about and just really regretting going the cookie cutter banquet hall route. I dont know if we should start looking at venues again or I should just suck it up and deal. I know my Fiance will be extremely frustrated if we have to start looking again..esp since we're almost a year out now. Thoughts/advice?

    Invite for a half hour ahead and have drinks and maybe even light snacks available. This is SOP in NYC and the environs.

    Definitely have drinks before hand in case there is traffic, which we know there will be. Just because its a cookie cutter hall doesn't mean it can't be nice. Get some uplighting and some killer decor.

    Where are the majority of your guests coming from? Will the venue be closer to home for them, or do they live in the city? If the venue puts them closer to home, then I wouldn't worry about the drive except to consider a bit more than 45 minutes for the commute when setting the start time of your cocktail hour. If they mostly live in the city then I might reconsider the venue.
