Having an acquaintance sing at our wedding

Marissa, on March 31, 2020 at 3:31 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 3
So there is a friend of mine I’ve known since Elementary school who has an absolutely stunning voice. Over the years I’ve helped do photography when she was trying to build her career and she does sing with a lot of amazing local artists now. All this to say, we aren’t close enough that I would invite her to our wedding necessarily but wanted to ask her to sing at our wedding for our first dance. There’s a specific song we want but don’t want the original or acoustic male version of the song. She would be a perfect fit for it!

Wondering if that is an odd request for somebody. I wouldObviously pay her for her time and talent but I’m wondering if others have done this before for just one song. I could also have her sing as we walk down the isle but haven’t decided on that yet. Just wondering if anybody has done something similar out there in the sense of having somebody come to sing just one song.
Thanks!

I don't think it's an odd request at all! i feel like that's something worth asking. it also sounds like a compliment because you think her voice is nice enough to want to display at your wedding

You start off by calling her a friend. If it is purely a business relationship I would have a contract written up that details what you would like to hire her for.

I was just taken back by the first sentence of calling her a friend. Hope it all works out!
