Thoughts about having your dress made? Plenty of brides have opted for a custom-made wedding gown. Have you found a shop/seamstress experienced in the style you're looking for?

I know that Fabrictopia can made gowns. I have talked to a Native lady of the African decent and she said that she can make my gown and all my bridesmaids dresses as well.

That sounds great! As long as you give your seamstress ample time to make the dresses for yourself and your bridesmaids, I don't see anything wrong with this idea Smiley smile

Yes, many couples opt for custom-made outfits. Are you worried they won't be ready in time--is that why you're uneasy? Additionally, are you and/or your fiancé of African descent?

One of my best friends is ghanian & she had a traditional & American wedding. The traditional all of ours plus her dress including groomsmen had our dresses made with the real kinte cloth. Totally doable. Go for it if it’s what you guys want

That makes sense--do you think there might be some family members on his side that might be willing to give advice/guide patterns/etc.? It could also serve as a nice bonding activity and may help you figure out what's important to you, your fiancé, and the culture.
