Have you been to a wedding that was inconsiderate to guest?

She has 150ish people with one taco guy and porter pottys. I understand money can be tight (believe me I understand) but she invited people she hadn't spoke to.in years. Maybe she could have cut the guest list to more things more comfortable. Anyways, I want to make sure people are comfortable at my wedding. So, let's hear your stories, even if its something you thing is obviously inconsiderate

A couple of years ago, I received an invitation to the wedding of a FORMER co-worker. The wedding/reception was 90 minutes away. Inside the invitation there was a two page typed "letter" indicating all of the things we [guests] had to pay for.....in advance. $25 per person for a buffet dinner; $6.50 each for drink tickets; $3.00 for a parking pass; $10 cover charge for after party. Please make the check out to the bride.

    Uh.....DECLINE

Oh also a wedding were we waited like 2 hours at the reception space and then when the bridal party actually showed up they all got food and ate and started dancing before they even called up the first table for food of the guests. Same wedding as the water people

The worst wedding I went to was last year and it was one of FH's cousins. The ceremony was at noon and cocktail hour wasn't until 5 (I can understand that but we drove in from 2 hours away and it was all in downtown Philly so thankfully some family invited us over in the meantime). When we got to cocktail hour it lasted 2 hours (Whyyyy?! I strongly dislike standing in heels for 2 hours and there was no seating). After we were finally let into the reception we sat and waited in silence (no music or anything going on) for another hour just waiting until dinner was served (which was cold) and then waited for them to cut the cake/do dances/etc for another hour and a half. It was all verrrrry slow moving and the party never really got started because people weren't sure if we were still waiting or it was time to get up and move.

Not that bad compared to most stories but my wedding pet peeve is waiting. I feel like Let's go and get this all done so we can get the party started!

Most brides on here have heard about the wedding I attended where parents brought their wild children, parents proceeded to get plastered and decided they did not want to "parent" anymore, and the result was the parents locked about 20 screaming children in the ladies bathroom for the rest of the night - BUT - not before they trashed the reception (running everywhere, hands in the cake, drawing on the walls, endless screaming, etc.) it was horrible.

One of the first weddings I attended for a friend was also a bust. I was 22, and other than knowing it was going to be an outdoor wedding I did not know the details. I had no idea we were going to have to hike down a chunky, gravel drive in 100 degree heat (I was in my best heels) to a mosquito and bullfrog infested pond - where we sat in the sun. The bride could not fit into her dress bless her heart so someone - safety pinned a piece of white t-shirt into the back where it would not close. Because of this, she was 40 minutes late. As we were baking in the sun, I started not feeling well. The groom was drunk and was in jeans and a t-shirt - okay, whatever. But the pastor gave the most long winded spiel I think I ever had to sit through - he talked about random stuff for almost 25 minutes before they got to the vows. So, we were baking for close to two hours and sun burned by the time they were done. Oh and I forgot to mention this was potluck - so 100 people brought tiny bowls of mystery casserole - so there was no where enough food. But oh, this gets better. The parents just sat this potluck inside a tool shed - no way to cool anything - so the food was bad/rotten. The bride also changed out of her dress into ripped shorts and a Harley tank the second the ceremony was over and was guzzling beer with her friends. To top it all off, about 5 hours after I got home I was in the ER with a 105 temperature. I was battling a UTI and had no idea and the Dr. said sitting out in that heat could have done serious damage. Yea. It was bad.

3 stick out in my mind.

The worst was about two years ago now and I was a bridesmaid. She originally had us all buy different dresses, but after her husband knocked her up (again) with six months to go she delayed the wedding. Which made her rethink the dresses and then made us but a second. Luckily neither one was over $100,but still. She has all the bridesmaids, there were five of us, sleepover at her house which included a toddler and a newborn. None of us slept very well that night. The groom and the groomsmen had his bachelor party that night and were subsequently not feeling that great in the morning. We had to wake up at 5 AM the next morning to get ready and have her hair done for a 10 AM ceremony. She had not thought about how to get any of us to the chapel and had forgotten the veil and her license at home so I had to turn around go back and grab them with half the bridesmaids. She was then Unhappy we were late because we delayed the pictures. There was no sound system in place so one of the groomsmen had to call his girlfriend to bring his equipment. His girlfriend had not been invited to the wedding. During the ceremony the children of the bride and groom were screaming and running up and down the aisles and no one stopped them. After the ceremony we had to inform the guests that there was an hour gap which had not been mentioned before. Most of the guests including the bridal party went and grab Taco Bell which with the nearest fast food place. When we finally got to the reception the bride and groom did not want to enter because the children were not there. The grandmother of the children had taken the babes for a drive so they would eventually fall asleep. No one had informed anyone this was happening. There ended up being food at the reception, not that anyone knew that. The bride was unhappy because she spilled a sauce down her dress and was mad at the bridesmaids because we had not informed her that there was sauce on what she was eating.

The next wedding mainly had logistical problems. No one knew if there was going to be a reception. No one knew there was going to be food at the reception other than the bridal party. And then DJ was the bride's cousin who set up a playlist on her iPod however it wasn't a playlist it was something like Spotify where they were commercials thrown in periodically. She had no idea how to feed the bridal party throughout the day so I bought us all granola bars and yogurt for breakfast and her cousin's boyfriend bought us all Chinese food from the place next door. The groomsmen apparently did not approve of the marriage they were extremely unhelpful. Since I was the MOH I basically wanted to kill them. This included them changing from their suits into a hoodie and jeans before pictures were taken. And then disappearing for large amounts of times when we were actually doing the pictures. The dresses were from a thin cotton material which was not enough for early May.

The last one was the wedding went to on Sunday. Not much was wrong with it other than logistics. The ushers know what they were doing so they didn't tell anyone where to sit or hand out programs, parasols and the fans. The fans would have been nice especially nice since it was 85 to 90° day and there was no wind. Luckily some people did notice and started handing them out to one side however the other side was left out when the ceremony began. Another problem was that although there was an open bar, it was only for the cocktail hour. So if you couldn't grab a cocktail at the cocktail hour you were out of luck for dinner other than water. The cocktail hour also served food but it was the same three types of bruschetta bread over and over again, which is fine if you are not gluten intolerant like some of the guests were.

FH's ex wife got married in March, and while I know she was going for "simple" because she and her new husband are from the backwoods, there is a fine line between simple and horrible hosting. They threw the wedding together with about $1500 of income tax money in about 8 weeks time. The ceremony could barely be heard because there was no PA system (and I was in the front row of seats), and she thought it was a good idea to have her BFF/BM's husband hook his cell phone up to what looked like one of those little bullet speakers for the precession music as well as their first dance and the mother/daughter & father/son dance, so nobody heard the precessional music and you could barely hear the other three songs, which mind you were the only songs played. After that, Mr. "DJ Cheapskate" had no more power in the speaker. What's worse is that she chose the SAME SONG for her first dance with her new husband that she danced to with FH when they got married. I wonder if she ever mentioned that to her new DH.

Then it was on to the reception...or lack thereof. Everyone had to move the chair they sat in (provided they had a chair) from the oak tree where the ceremony was held to the other section of the property where the "reception" was being held. There were only tables for what little bit of food was provided (strawberries, grapes, cocktail nuts, cookies, ham rolls, and brownies to eat and two gallons each of tea and lemonade with no water option), the cake table, and the gift/guest book table (which was the largest table of them all). I spent the entire time she was having her pictures done (and her guests were waiting in fairly warm conditions) setting up her cupcakes and her toasting glasses for her, then spent half the "reception" serving her guests because she had nobody else to do it, and it was becoming pandemonium because she had nearly 60 guests with maybe enough food to properly serve 20 at best, and everybody was flipping out over the prospect of possibly not being fed. One of her guests was the wife of her husband's BFF, who was pregnant with triplets, and I don't think she got more than a couple of strawberries, a few gapes, and a brownie. I don't exactly call that an appropriate portion for someone eating for four in her third trimester. The tea and lemonade ran out halfway through the guests, they had no ice to keep drinks cool, and people ended up going into the only bathroom that was on the grounds to get cups of tap water to drink. After I was done running myself ragged, I was lucky to get a cupcake, and barely got a "thank you for going out of your way to step in and help" out of the bride or groom.

Oh wait! Yes I did! The groom decided to talk down about me to FH's daughter and when confronted about it decided to physically assault me a short time thereafter. I also found out that all of their closest buddies talked down about me after the ceremony because FH's daughter was being rude and trying to grab up three cupcakes at once for herself, and I told her to put two of them back. Apparently, I'm not allowed to teach FH's children etiquette. I guess this goat roping could give me some insight into why.

FH didn't go because he accepted a schedule for work that he didn't realize conflicted with her wedding day (or so he says), but he did text me on his break to ask me how everything was. My response? "I walked away from the experience with a whole list of things that we will make sure our guests have, and if we have to wait and save up to make a proper wedding happen, we will just wait."

I guess I'm fairly fortunate that I haven't been to many bad weddings. I did however go to a wedding where at the end of the night the family was going around and telling everyone that they didn't pay for the gratuity and asked all of the guests to leave a tip on the tables.

Jeez. some of these stories are horrible and im sorry you ladies had to deal with it. Ive only been to a couple weddings and they all were great in their own ways. What comes to mind with me is one wedding I actually took pictures for back in 2010, the officiant was almost 2 hours late. The couple got married on a beach in new jersey, in the middle of no where. The bus picked us up at the house and dropped us off at the beach at the time it was suppose to then it had to leave and another bus was going to pick us back up to bring us to the reception site, which was back in nyc (a 2 1/2 hour drive back and fourth]. When the officiant eventually gets there she starts to argue with the bride about the location and how "hot" she is in the sun and blahblahblah. needless to say she almost got into a fist fight with the officiant lol. It was pretty intense, and everyone was sunburned because there was no where to stand, you were either in the parking lot, or a rocky beach. Very uncomfortable.

I'm from South Florida so anything below 55 F is freezing for me. I went to a wedding in NY and it was 40 F and a little windy. The wedding was outside...I remember my friends and I sitting so close to one another and sharing a large scarf. They didn't inform us the wedding would be outside so we could have worn warmer clothes. Plus, the wedding was about 30 minutes long....

Luckily I haven't been to too many bad weddings like some of these stories! The worst one I went to was probably the one that started very late because the couple forgot the marriage license at home. The ceremony and reception was all at the same place so everyone was just sitting at their tables waiting and waiting. The bride had a melt down because the officiate was refusing to marry them and their house was a half hour each way, so an hour round trip away. Finally the Father of the Bride lied to the officiant and said he found it so she did the service and then after the wedding I as MOH and the BM had to drive back to the couples house to sign it so we could get it back to the officiant the next day. There was also drama before the wedding. Bride hated her cake and called me wanting me to pick up flowers to decorate the cake and then also hated her hair so I had to go fix her hair. I barely bad enough time to get ready for the wedding myself. I was putting make-up on in the car at red lights driving to the venue.

Some of these are terrible! Talk about bridezillas! I was a BM in a wedding last Labor Day weekend. Last Labor Day weekend was in the middle of a heat wave here in NJ. Of course, the ceremony was outside at 4pm, by a lake and she had us all wear floor length, fit and flare taffeta dresses. Needless to say we were beyond hot. The sweat was not only dripping down our faces, but I had sweat dripping down my back and my thighs. She also insisted that we all get matching blush shoes and get our hair and makeup done.

I was recently a guest at a wedding in May. The wedding was at a gorgeous Victorian style mansion; however, the 220 guests invited were a bit crammed. There were not enough seats at the ceremony, so a good amount of guests had to stand. The dinner was served outside, while all of the bars, bathrooms and DJ/dance floor were inside. It was just a terrible set up.

These stories are starting to make me feel so much better about some of the planning decisions FH and I have made, haha... I seriously think we should summarize these and make them a forum sticky!

My SIL's bridal shower outdoors in the middle of July only one umbrella table. The worst part was that there was a built in pool that nobody could swim in staring us right in the face the whole time. Torture I tell you. Sweat was pouring off of me. I left early. At her wedding she was 1 1/2 hours late and there was no drink service until the wedding started. So all her guests were so thirsty. I had to find a bar in the venue far from her reception room, which turned out to be downstairs, and had to buy and deliver drinks to the family at my table.

Worst for me would have to be my Dad's. He married a mail-order-bride (seriously). She came to the country with her son, a few 90's wind suits (this was 2005) and a wedding dress, which was awful, by the way.

My brother was best man and I was her MOH, I guess, I was the only BM since she knew no one in the country. My brother and I arrived 15 minutes before the ceremony (as a little protest). I had to plaster on a smile, while trying not to laugh at my grandmother; I thought her eyes were going to roll out of her head while they were saying vows.

The reception was in the church hall: peanuts, crackers and cheese, punch, and a sheet cake. We all just stood around nibbling on our snacks, no music, lights were bright, mood was very strange because we all thought he was making a huge mistake and everyone was trying to be fake polite, awkward! There was no dancing, but she did throw the bouquet. Everyone just stepped away and it hit the floor and laid there. The whole event was over withing 1.5 hours.

Letting the bride's toss intentionally hit the ground? Ouch! I can kind of understand, though. I wouldn't want that bouquet either, because it sounds like there was some bad joo-joo attached.

I think the worst was only that one of my friends had her wedding on a Thursday, because "it's the anniversary of the day we met" and it happened to coincide with the first day of classes for all of the colleges on the East Coast where I am. And all her bridesmaids were in college. I would be lying if I didn't say that pissed me off a little, but I sucked it up because I was her MOH and wanted to be supportive.

She also had it in this weird church that was converted from an old barn. The church portion was upstairs in the old barn rafters, and there was no A/C (and it was AUGUST!) so it was hot as shit. I thought I was going to pass out. Thankfully, the ceremony didn't last all that long.

I have no recollection of her reception, other than the Best Man refusing to escort me into the reception during the announcements (he was my ex) and a few other key things. So, like, no idea if there was an open bar, or what her cake tasted like, or how the food was. None of that.
