Has Anyone Used Etsy?

Private User, on July 24, 2013 at 5:07 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 43

I'm looking for gifts for my bridesmaids and for my father and founded out about Etsy. I'm nervous about trying online shopping on websites I've never been to (thanks to my FH occupation) and wanted to know if anyone has shop there and had a good product. I don't really have the time to be scammed right now. Thank you ladies!

Many many times. I've never had a bad experience, but Etsy isn't a "store" it's all different, individual sellers. Definitely make sure you read their shop policies well and definitely checking out the reviews before you buy anything.

There's a few of us that have shops there... I make fabric flip flops, as I'm a Florida girl.

But the main trick to Etsy is to convo with the sellers, ask questions, ask for pictures, ask for details, check out their feedback, not just the percentage, read through it.

Are there any specific things you are looking for? We can maybe refer you to specific shops that we have had experience with if you're looking for similar items.

I personally have started avoiding Chinese sellers on eBay and etsy. I've have a few bad experiences now with them on eBay and many of the same are also on etsy so now that's my rule.

I've ordered several things on etsy and always had a good experience. FH bought one thing that he wasn't very happy with, but as others have mentioned, these are individual sellers so you can't judge one seller by the other...

I've used Etsy a few times...always had great experiences. Reenski is right - talk to the sellers and read their feedback. Most of the feedback is pretty honest. Good luck!

I've always had great experiences with Etsy but I carefully pick and choose (based on convos and reviews) who I buy from

Not sure what kind of necklaces you're looking for, my girls and I all got our jewelry from Pineberry Boutique. It was simple colored pearls, but they were well priced and came out beautifully. Here's a link: http://www.etsy.com/shop/PineberryBoutique

Okay so read the feedback messages-check. And someone said you can have conversations with sellers?

Yeah, there's a contact shop owner button on the front of each store and usually within listing to ask them questions.

I personally love the Etsy shop - eversolovely - based in NC.

I got a recommendation from a friend and we have both had nothing but good luck with her

I've bought on etsy regularly since 2006. Never had a problem, but make sure you read feedback and shop policies.

The only country I won't buy from is China. I recently bought from a new seller in Turkey. Took a chance, and I have no complaints.

I've used Etsy a lot. I've bought people gifts (jewelry, bookmarks, journals, scarves, and even a decorative pillowcase) loads of times, from various sellers. I bought my partner's engagement ring from an Etsy seller (who's actually local, which kind of tickles me a bit).

The only negative experience I've had with Etsy was that one of the items I bought was from a new shop (so, no feedback for me to read), and the shipping took a VERY long time. The seller was very apologetic, though, and the piece is gorgeous.

Check feedback (and read it carefully), read the item descriptions carefully, and ask the seller if you have any questions. Many sellers also do custom work.

Here are some shops I love (and have made purchases from):

I got my girls jewelry and personalized tumblers on etsy and my garter. It's addictive, I LOVE it.

Etsy is fantastic! I had a great experience recently with one vendor from whom I ordered some bath bombs. I left a review (yes you can leave feedback) that wasn't very positive and he contacted me immediately and offered me a replacement product. You can contact vendors directly to inquire about placing special orders and there is no obligation to purchase the items just for asking general questions. I agree about the Chinese vendors. Do your homework before you buy. That goes for ANYTHING on the internet. There is so much fraud out there.

Etsy is great! Definitely check out the store's policy and read the feedback. You can send the seller a message and ask questions. If you pay with PayPal, buyers also have 45 days to dispute charges if any issues come up. It's a great place to support small businesses.

We just bought our cake topper from there yesterday, I've never ordered anything from Etsy before, but it was too cute to pass up:
