Has anyone told you "Just go to the courthouse!"

I have nothing against people that go to the courthouse to get married, afterall I used to be the one in the courthouse issuing marriage licenses, lol. But that is just not for me. I have nothing against people that go to the courthouse to get married, afterall I used to be the one in the courthouse issuing marriage licenses, lol. But that is just not for me. Regardless, I am getting sick of some people telling me "Just go to the courthouse, it's only a paper!"....My fiance and I have been together for 7 years and to me, it's not just a piece of paper. I'm not 100% religous, but it's just not a paper to me. It's something special and a big step in both of our lives. I cherish marriage and take it very seriously. Has anyone said this to you? I think it's kinda rude to say!

Yes have heard that and just laugh and say thanks for the suggestion. Can't let someone's opinion interrupt what I want to do with my life.

Yes I have been told this too and it is really annoying! I see it as the Wedding is an experience that every girl deserves.

"I hate when people tell me to elope or just have a tiny ceremony because weddings "are such a waste of money." I just feel like saying, Hey thanks for the total insult and for telling me how I should manage my finances! Would you like me to go through your credit card statement and tell you how I think you wasted YOUR money?? Its not a purse or a pair of sunglasses, its a celebration of 2 people becoming a family and its a pretty darn good excuse to spend some money if you ask me." - Amy B. (see pg 1)

AMEN to that, Amy B.! Couldn't have said it better myself.
