Has anyone done a La Vibora De La Mar (sea serpent) dance at their wedding?

VeganWifey, on June 17, 2016 at 7:24 PM Posted in Planning 0 3

I am not having a religious ceremony or bringing any cultural elements into it.

But FH is Mexican, and I am half Mexican half Russian.

Has anyone done a La Vibora De La Mar dance?!

My understanding of it is the bride stands on a chair with a bottle of tequila and FH holding her veil or train on another chair, a specific song is played by dj, and guests make a line and go all around the wedding then when the song stops whoever is under the brides veil or train gets a shot of tequila poured by the bride.

Any tips or advice?

We will not be having hard alcohol served at the bar so I am not too concerned with people drinking too much.

Thanks in advance

I do not know much of the coltural background but I think this sounds really fun actually, but I LOVE tequila so maybe I am biased.

You should never be worried about guests getting too drunk though. They are all adults and if they have one too many it's all in good and fun=]!

DH is Mexican and they have done this at all the weddings we've attended, but we didn't do it at our own (I don't know why). It's usually a LOT of fun, just be careful because the guys tend to get crazy and sometimes trip. Also, make sure you have enough room where people can form a train and not get in the way of everything.
