Hard to Save Money

Molly, on August 7, 2019 at 7:03 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 7
It's been so hard to save for the wedding. The car broke down and needed to be fix and bills never go away. But I am sticking to it and saving what I can.

That's good you're sticking to it. It definitely can be hard with whatever else goes on in your life. I always recommend people to do something similar to a 52 week challenge but edited to work for them. Saving money can be really easy because even a dollar a day adds up ya know? But I also get that things happen and weddings are just ridic expensive. Best of luck!

It can be difficult to save for a wedding when life as normal continues and the expenses associated with it.

It sounds like you’re trying your very best to save what you can and that’s all you can do Smiley smile

Yes I hear you. I started planning when I had 3 jobs! Recently since May have only had my one job so it’s been hard. Have to register my car by aug 30, my wedding is 9/1. I have to take my dog to the vet Monday and I have a yellow jacket problem in my home so we have an exterminator coming today! Such bad timing

Yes it is very hard to save money but as long as you are consistent and reminding yourself you will do it. I for one like a good happy hour and would go 2-3 times a month I have since put my self on a budget and haven't gone but the 2x i was about to call my best friend and ask if we were going out I put $50 in jar and said that I would've used that $$ which meant I could save it. So I say just be mindful of your budget and all will be fine

I understand. The first year was insane for us! (2 year engagement) Things have finally calmed down and we are finally done paying everything off. Hang in there. You will reach your goal!

We actually pushed our date out several months, so we could have more time to save. We had a date set, but then stuff happened. Car breaks down, water heater went out, fridge broke, I had some unexpected medical expenses. At the end of it all, we realized that we were not going to have enough time to save what we needed for the wedding we wanted. Since we were already on a shoestring budget, and I wasn't willing to sacrifice even more, pushing the date out was our only option.

Once we did that, it was such a huge relief. Not only did I have more time to save, but I also had more time to research, which led me to more bargains!! Win-win.

I completely understand the car issue. The alternator for my car decided to go bad this morning. Not something I need right now.
