Hangs head - wedding state has now banned non-locals from hotel stays.

Laura, on April 10, 2020 at 6:06 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

I think we're about done. If we can't even stay there, it's done. It's either a complete reschedule or I don't know what... We're only a few states away and the wedding is in August - maybe it will turn around by then... But do I gamble more money on the hope? Sigh.

What state are you supposed to get married in? And they said they are not allowing non locals to stay in that hotel for your August wedding?

The ban is in place now. It's Arkansas. I don't know if it will stay that way but guests would need reservations before the month of the wedding. It's August 7th. Most would like to make plans in the next month - which would be mid-May.

I’m so sorry! I didn’t hear about Arkansas doing that. How’s your venue, will they allow you to reschedule?

    Hi Laura,

I'm truly sorry that you're going through this. Postponing your wedding is not an easy decision, and it's tougher when it's not your call.

WeddingWire has gathered some resources here: COVID-19 Wedding Support Central. You'll find articles like:

    - What to Do If You Have to Cancel Your Destination Wedding

    - You’ve Decided to Postpone Your Wedding. Now What?

    - “My Wedding Was Postponed Due to Covid-19, but Now I Get a ‘Do-Over’”

If the financial strain of this pandemic prevents some of your guests from attending, will you be OK with their absence? Will waiting until 2021 guarantee their presence? You can't control anyone's circumstances, of course, so maybe you could take an informal poll of the family and friends that you most want to see at your wedding. Their responses may help you decide your next step. In the end, you should make the decision that feels right for you. tNfzh5l2DqY174PTz2s3UDnoYIEE1TX4V67XINfc

Good luck with your new date, whenever it may be!

I'm trying to figure out if we cant travel and afford it too. We work in jobs that are likely to and have already been impacted by the virus. We always talk about the guests and whether or not they can attend - but right now I don't know if we (the couple) can attend. It's been really rough - and this is our 3rd date. May (changed due to family not being able to attend), then June (Covid) rescheduled that then August... I don't know if any of us can take the stress of more... We might just opt out for a long time - a few years even. Maybe we'll elope for now. I am out of other ideas...
