Hanging fabric help?

Meranda, on March 22, 2013 at 8:15 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 3

I want to hang fabric on the walls of my venue; I checked with them and they said it would be fine. I went to look at it today, and I saw something I didn't notice before; The very upper portion of the walls are lined with cork board so it'd be super easy to hang the fabric up.

But I have some questions;

The walls are 42 feet long and 10 feet high, how much fabric do you suppose I would need for one wall?

What type of fabric should I get? I like organza and chiffon, but tulle is generally much cheaper.

Would tacks hold the weight?

Would lining just the walls with fabric look fine without draping it on the ceiling? (I wanted to do it originally, but the ceiling is just far too high.)

Also, where could I find the fabric for a good price?

Thanks in advance!

    I'd go with 50 yards of 48 inch width. That's A LOT of fabric. Lol And that'll just be for flat panels. If you want a bit of a gather, double that. You'll need to cut it into about 3 1/2 yard lengths then hang length wise. Tacks will probably hold tulle ok, but anything heavier you'll need to come up with something else.

    I don't know what exactly you have in mind, but I think you if you did it sort of like these drapes, then it would look fine without hanging anything from the ceiling.

    We got some great fabric to drape in our tent for our upcoming wedding. The company is Silver Star Displays and they really do give you the best deal possible. Here is a link to their page: Pipe & Drape
