Halloween wedding?

Melissa, on July 9, 2018 at 2:44 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
Has anyone ever done a Halloween themed wedding? I'm thinking black wedding dress and either orange or purple for bridesmaids and converse shoes because I hate heels lol. Trying to plan how to decorate without it being tacky. I want to incorporate pumpkins and skulls and the colors black, purple and orange or maybe red. Most likely a buffet for food and a treat table/candy bar for guests to "trick or treat". I can't wait!!!

Do you watch Four Weddings at all? I've seen a few on those. I liked them! One was really expensive (like over $100k) and was super gothic. Another was rustic and outdoorsy with pumpkins and fall decor. They were both super fun and everyone seemed to like it!

Hi Melissa! I think the black dress with purple bridesmaid dresses will look great! My dream is to have a Halloween wedding so I am happy to help with decoration ideas! Are you thinking of doing an indoor or outdoor wedding? For the aisle, you should line it with pumpkins or skulls! I added some photos below of my inspiration from my Pinterest board, hope it helps! My uncle for married in Halloween a few years ago and it was actually one of the funnest weddings I've been too. They did it as a costume party and invited the guests to dress up as well. They were dressed as Gomez and Morticia from the Addams family. I think IIRC the even had the theme song playing as they walked down the aisle. The bride wore all the caked on white make to make her complexion look really pale but it looked like crap and was a little over top. I mean, she looked more like a scary witch than Morticia.

Other than that, I think its a fun idea. It's one of those where you have to walk the line carefully between fun wedding theme or over the top tacky. I'm doing an 80's theme and am constantly like, is that fun, is that tacky, is it just too much? It's easy to get carried away on the theme when its such a fun one.

I am a Halloween bride too. Just keep it simple and it'll look nice. We don't have a TON of decor, but the pieces we chose are either really creepy or really elegant. I.e., a realistic zombie head & a vintage candelabra. I also am lighting the entire reception with string and candlelight. If your venue has restrictions on open flames, flickering LED lights are the way to go. I got a great deal on a large quantity via eBay. That alone will give a beautiful eerie vibe.
