So I had a hair trial yesterday. See the photos below. The first photo is my hair trial. The 2nd photo is what my hair was supposed to look like. Guh! They dont look anything alike! My fair is fine and about shoulder length. I have been going to this family friend for over 25 years. I feel bad...

So I had a hair trial yesterday. See the photos below. The first photo is my hair trial. The 2nd photo is what my hair was supposed to look like. Guh! They dont look anything alike! My fair is fine and about shoulder length. I have been going to this family friend for over 25 years. I feel bad telling her that I hate my hair! But I have to do something else! I grew my hair out for the wedding. I was hoping for a nice up do. My wedding is next weekend, so I am out of time to find a new girl. Plus my hair dresser is a guest at the wedding! I prefer short hair, its what I usually have. So I have come up with the idea of cutting my hair, like the 3rd photo and getting a pearl comb for my hair. Do you ladies think this is dressy enough for a wedding? My FH likes the idea of me doing my own hair and that I would look more like me. Opinions please?

@Wanda: tons of hairspray. Smiley winking where are you located? If everything goes wrong and you are close I could help you Smiley smile I don't mean to be creepy - I just know how difficult it is to deal with thin hair when it comes to updo's

This is the best one I have access to right now, but you can get the general idea.

You can always find someone else if you decide to do the hair chop. My hair was about shoulder length, and my hairdresser curled it and pinned it so it looked like an updo.

@ Jennifer Thanks! I was just curious how it was pinned! I like your hair and you can still see your ears, I really want to show off my earrings! :o)

@ Pan, my hair is currently shoulder length and im considering going even shorter...

Thanks girls! I appreciate it! I think I will sleep on everyones suggestions and make my decision tomorrow.... :o)

You need to tell her you don't like it. Shes been your stylist for 25 yrs, she will understand. Just tell her that it didn't turn out like you thought it would. You just don't like the style on you. Then y'all can come up with a great look together.

I wouldn't cut ir off right before the wedding. That's a little drastic and you may regret not doing an updo that you've wanted. If you cut it, you no longer have that option.

I think part of the problem is that you do have fine hair - so do I - and the style you want really takes thicker hair. (below is a pic of what I want and what mine will look like - again because my hair is baby fine I knew it wouldn't look exactly the same).

Still, she could have done a better job at it.

I say have her cut your hair and wear the pearl comb. It will be easy to style and more "you"

I wish she would have been more up front with me while she was styling my hair, at least it wouldnt have been such a shock.

I was shopping this evening and came across a few pearl and rhinstone combs I liked. Ill try and get a photo on here.

Your photos are helpful and beautiful thanks ladies for all of your support!

I wouldnt cut it unless you really want to. To cut it just so your stylist wont do that to your hair is not right. First off, tell your stylist you hate it. It is literally her job to give you a style you love for your wedding day! And if you want a braided look, there are so many cool looks out there- just google it! even a pretty braided headband with some soft curls would work and look dressy- with our without the short hair! Check out this pintrest page for it too: http://pinterest.com/vlecomte/braided-hairstyles/

I dont think it is too late to get a new stylist if you want. But maybe finding an easier style your girl can handle would help if you want to stay with her.

I say do it. Cut your hair and do something that feels much more like you. I cut my hair about a week and a half before my wedding and had my mom do it. It was exactly what I wanted and I am so glad I did it that way.

I think the pic you put in is not too informal for a wedding, but my opinion doesn't really matter! YOU have to be happy with it and love it, not any of us.

If you really want an up-do however, you should probably see if you can get a different one that you like more.
