Hair and makeup trial went horrible

I've been going to the same girl for my hair for 15 years. Yesterday I had my hair and makeup trial with her. Needless to say, I have booked a completely different salon and have my trial there this afternoon. Perk of having a Friday wedding, I guess. I'm ashamed of the pictures, but I'll post them...

Needless to say, I have booked a completely different salon and have my trial there this afternoon. Perk of having a Friday wedding, I guess. I'm ashamed of the pictures, but I'll post them so you guys can have a laugh, because that's what I do now when I look at them. Hopefully today goes better! Here's the pics I have her first, followed by the disaster.

Oy vey. Hair isn't too bad but that makeup is not doing your pretty face any favours! Please consider using a different MUA! I showed my MUA that same inspiration photo and it looked exactly the same on me.

Oh my gosh. That is horrible. There's a reason for hair and makeup trials. Prime example.

Oh gosh. Smiley sad I'm sorry. Some of the hair looks okay but the side view makes the bump look weird. The make up though isn't that great :/ She made you have black eyes! Hope this next one works out for you.

OMG. I'm so sorry this happened to you but thank god you were able to get in with another salon. The make up- I'm impressed you did not wash it off before leaving the salon, what on earth did she put on your face? I hope your trial today goes much much better. On the plus side I LOVE your inspiration!

I'm so sorry! I actually think the hair is fixable but I know how it is still a disappointment when it's not quite right. The makeup, hmmm, not the best work I've seen. I'm sorry, I really hope you have a much better experience with the new place! Good Luck!!

All this time I was thinking a pretrial was a waste of money.............NOPE............adding it to my budget right now! A good professional will know what to do with your natural beauty. You made the right decision.

Why after 15 years did you not think you could tell her the truth? Unless you did.....then I want to know what she said....Can't wait to see the new photos

Its not that horrible. It looks like you need to tweak a few things is all. If it makes you feel any better, I've had 2 pretty bad trials with 2 different stylists/companies. My 2nd trial this past Monday went just ok. I liked the way she did my hair but my makeup was horrible. I emailed her to tell her I'd like to hire her, but there were a few things that needed tweaking. Just like your frosted lipstick, the iridescent frosty eye shadow in the corners of my eyes (they totally accentuated my age of 48!) had to go. I told her no shiny, sparkles in the corners of my eyes, I would like to go with matte eyeshadow, and actually, I told her I wasn't particularly fond of the foundation the salon uses and that I was going to be purchasing my own to use that day, she would just do the applying. I did love my hair that day though. Pick the things you didn't like, and see if she can tweak them? Especially where you have been using her for so long, I'm thinking if you just communicate with her it can be perfection, and you will be a happy bride.

I was embarrassed to post my hair trial as well!

I'm glad you chose to go with a new stylist, good move! I'm still on the fence about my hair stylist.

Oh no! I have been going to the same lady for my hair for like 20 years. When I called her about doing my hair she asked if I was going to do a updo or my hair down, I said updo and she was honest and said she was not good with updos. So I found someone else. She should have been honest with you from the beginning. What is going on with that make-up? The lipstick is so 1990 and did they even put any eyeshadow on you?

I know you will be more happy with round 2 then the first one.

LET THIS BE A LESSON!!!!! Pay the extra money for the hair and make-up trial! Can you imagine this on your wedding day?

I wasn't crazy about my hair or makeup from my long time stylist. But we got the hair down and I'm brining in some of my own makeup.

It went much better. She took my hair down but it turned out good and I was really happy with it. She's going to perfect the makeup on the day of, and she had fake lashes on me so that took some eyeliner off when she pulled them off. I didn't like the lipstick so I took that off and just bought a stick and liner at ulta so I should now be good to go. I suck at selfies so the picture still isn't the best.

OP - don't feel bad. I had 7 makeup trial failures. This is failure 1 and a picture of what I normally look like (feeling like Christmas!!)

Omg....hopefully you'll get a better trial. However, I'm wondering if she was confused?? Yikes. Maybe she took your words too seriously and didn't put on enough makeup. Your inspiration pic def has lots of contouring and the eyeshadow is dark. Your mua made your eyeshadow look more gray and definitely did not match your foundation to your skin. I'm so sorry. How disappointing.

What's funny to me is that that's nothing like the picture you showed her.
