Had the food tasting today! Wedding is getting real!

Tina, on September 27, 2019 at 3:06 PM Posted in Planning 0 16
FH and I attended the food tasting today to decide which two entrees for our plated meals. We got to choose three to be prepared for us and it was fun to try the food and chat to our wedding planner (from the venue). Each meal is also served with a salad (we need to decide on either a garden or Caesar salad) as the first course and we will be having a cocktail hour prior with appetizers.

The one I was most excited about on paper was absolutely delicious! Brazilian Beef in a chimichuri (sp?) sauce with sweet potato mash (hello! 💜💜💜) and sauteed red peppers and green beans. I literally could have eaten a whole pot of mash! Our second offering was Walleye and it was a big no from me. No flavour, just bland. The third offering was Salmon in a butter sauce and that was lovely. Served with cilantro and black bean rice, grilled asparagus and tiny tomatoes. My FH ate all his salmon and half of mine. 😁 We have to have a gluten free option so it's nice they both are. The planner asked us questions about the food (taste? Dry? Tender? Need more seasoning? Etc etc) which she would then give to the chef. I felt like Gordon Ramsey! Lol

I know it might be odd not having a chicken dish but we are very happy with our decisions! We will also be offering a silent vegan dish and a kids meal of chicken nuggets, fries and fruit.

How did your tastings go?

Your entrees sounds really delicious !

when i went on my tasting, the upgrade was for duck rather than chicken. we went to our tasting with both sets of parents as well and let me tell ya they got us with the duck because the chicken was bad. our parents were thrilled we upgraded to duck aha. BUT THAT'S HOW THEY GOT US -- "ohh just tryyyyy the duck" ahha

    OMG! That sounds so good!!

I have my tasting tomorrow!! I cannot wait. We have chosen a balsamic and roasted garlic infused tri-tip with grilled vegetables(gluten option) and our second plate is Chicken Marsala with Roasted garlic Mashed potatoes and Marsala Mushroom Sauce. Both plates come with rolls and a mixed baby green salad with cucumbers, carrots, cherry tomatoes, crumbled feta and raspberry vinaigrette (with added option of ranch or thousand island instead). We also have a silent vegetarian plate as well as a kid plate with chicken strips, fruit and fries.

Oh good! I know I've seen postings where people have said that not everyone eats beef or fish but hey, you can't please everyone.

We had our tasting in August. It was so good. We are having a served garden salad with French, Ranch and raspberry vinaigrette. Then doing a buffet of roast beef in beef gravy, chicken picata (so good), mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls. My dad wants to add is scalloped potatoes too lol, which I am good with since I thought they were better than the mashed. When we went for the tasting we also tried beef tips (didn't like it, because it had mushrooms) and roasted chicken (which was good, but very messy to eat). Your options sound so good!!!

Those both sound so good! I'd insist order a different choice from mine so I could at least taste both. Congrats!

We actually get a tasting every month but it’s what ever they put out. We’ve tried brushetta chicken and it wasn’t that great but the chicken Marsala is very good and our top pick so far. We were going to upgrade for the prime rib but I’m glad I tried it there is no flavor. Their sides have been decent with the Mac and cheese being my favorite so far.

Eggplant parmesan is good if we decide to do the vegetarian option.

This month’s tasting next week is fried chicken, southern collard greens and red potatoes

Your tasting sounds like such fun! Due to time, cost & distance we didn’t do a tasting but yours sounded like a great experience.

We didn’t do chicken either. For the main courses we did short ribs & salmon for our DW (family style), and ravioli or steak (plated option) at our local reception.
