Guests matching wedding party

Kristal, on March 5, 2019 at 4:46 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17
How would you feel if guests are trying to purposely match the wedding party? Would you be okay with it? Or would you tell them you prefer they wore different colors?

I personally would never tell guests what to or what not to wear. I probably wouldn’t share our colors with too many people either though.

A few guests wore our wedding colors because it’s a super popular color... wasn’t a big deal at all.

I don’t think I’d mind accidentally but the message I got “what are your colors I want to match the wedding party” that’s what is getting me the most.

I would never tell my guests what colors they were allowed to wear.

If someone asked would you tell them what your colors were so they could purposely match the party?

Sure. I don't really see why it matters. It's not like they'll be in photos with the bridal party or standing up at the altar. No one is going to confuse them with a BP member.

Just tell them your colors are a surprise. That's a super weird request lol. I've heard of people asking to avoid matching (which is totally unnecessary but considerate), but never asking to ensure they match.

I don't think you can control what they wear. That being said - just because you tell them blue doesn't mean they will wear the same shade as your color. The mothers of the bride/groom usually match the wedding colors but the guests not so much.. maybe they are asking so they don't wear that color? If asked again, I'd just tell them neon pink or something off the wall.

They specifically said to match the party when they asked, forgot to put it in the original question area.. but knowing what their intentions are would you tell them your colors? Or just move around the question?

I'd tell them some off the wall color, just not respond or maybe say our theme is (romantic, rustic, boho, vintage, modern, casual, etc). I haven't ever heard of guests wanting to match the wedding party or the color theme of the wedding. I'd be annoyed if my guests wanted to specifically match the wedding party and let me know that was their intention - that means they'd go out of their way shopping for attire to match, which is silly.

My step daughter asked what she should wear to match. I just told her the colors and told her she can match, compliment, or just wear whatever she'd like. Lol. She will be in some pictures unlike random guests but I don't see it being an issue if someone matches.

My husband's side of the family likes to do this for every wedding. A few people wore similar colors to the wedding color. I didn't have any problem with it. I just told people to wear what they wanted to wear.

Unless they are coming in the exact same bridesmaids dresses I dont think it's a big deal. Maybe it will make them feel more included. Who knows. My cousin had teal as her wedding colours, I never even knew and wore a teal dress to her wedding. Lol

This is probably inevitable for our wedding. My girls are wearing all black 50's style dresses with petticoats and all, and we have invited all guests to dress in 50's attire if they'd like. With a black dress those odds are pretty high I think!

I honestly wouldn't care what guests wore, as long as it isn't white. My bridesmaids are in blue so I can only imagine some guests will also be in blue.

I wouldn't care but it would be a little odd if they were doing it on purpose lol.
