Guests backing out

Becky, on March 20, 2017 at 7:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 42

With 14 days till our wedding, I've had 6 people say they can't come today. I'm not upset or anything I just laugh it off. Has this happened to anyone else?

This happened to my FH's friend in January two days before. They were expecting over 100 to show up, ended up with 70ish. Terrible weather and a bunch of people got the flu. Kinda how it goes :/

Did they just not want to be in the wedding anymore, @Denise?

That sucks. I'm sorry that it happened. Illness is understandable. Brush it off and know that you will still have fun with those that matter.

Well I asked for an update from my two bridesmaids and they had an attitude abt being too busy and being stressed out etc.. keep in mind one knew for abt a year and the other knew since January but neither decided to go buy their dress so now that I'm asking they want to talk crap. So I said do t worry abt being bridesmaids anymore

So you kicked them out? Were they intending to get the dresses? Were they hard to find or expensive?

Denise- even if they had a year, or knew since January, things can still come up. People get busy and have lives outside of your wedding. Did you take the time to be a friend first and see what was up? If some of my best friends were stressed and having trouble then I would see if I could help them and make sure they were ok, not kick them out of my wedding.

OP- I had a couple RSVP to the wedding, and then a couple days after final numbers were due texted me to let me know that they found out they were going on a family vacation/reunion thing that weekend. It was annoying since I had already put the payment down for it, but oh well.

The dress my family originally picked out last year was $180 but I saw it online for $80 she decided not to get it. I didn't put any specific price range or amt on them I preferred them to find something reasonable. They haven't purchased anything at all so they are not in the red but I am because I paid on average $200 pp plus their bouquets

Clearly Densie kicked them out. What accessories were you requiring your bridesmaids to buy Denise? And were you requiring a specific shoe? I hope you realize that if you want specific jewelry or shoes for your BMs, you pay.

There wasn't any pressure or stress and they didn't have any personal issues even if that was the case to talk crap to me & tell me you don't care abt my wedding when I've never stressed anything to them is unnecessary I've I need to understand their situation they need to do the same for me. They waited to the very last min the dress or color is no longer available they were abt to change the style and length without telling me they were not considerate at all

My MOH didn't get her dress till the week of the wedding. She's my best friend. It was important that she stand beside me.

To the OP. We had 6 no shows day of. Two couples let us know. One missed dinner but showed up after. Life happens

I didn't require anything specific that's the whole point they could have picked a $40 dress and gold shoes and that would have been fine if that's what they wanted as long as it was in the color range. I didn't even specify jewelry I was trying to keep it simple

There was nothing I did that's was an attitude they had because other family meme era told me I shouldn't have asked them to participate In The first place but that's my fault for considering family

Your original posts says they "haven't gotten their dresses, shoes, accessories, etc" - so, if you didn't require these things, why did they need to buy them? Couldn't they just pull out a pair of shoes from their closet and earrings they already owned? Or no jewelry at all if you didn't care?
