Guest Dress...too White?

Mrsbdg, on August 14, 2019 at 9:27 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 67

Hey Ya'll

I had mentioned before my husband and I are going to a good friend's wedding next weekend and I ordered a dress off Poshmark since they are generally quicker with shipping then most websites. Well, of course this time the dress isn't even remotely close to described. I ordered a dark grey and I got a pale blush dress. Is it too close to white to wear as a guest? I'm nervous because it's outdoors and I have darker skin. I don't want the color of the dress to get blown out in pictures and look like I'm the jerk who thought it'd be fun to wear a long white dress. I don't want to bother the bride since they're on a super crunched timeline and my stupid questions are the last thing they need. Thoughts?

From the photo it looks fine but it could pass as a bridesmaid dress if styled differently. Do you know their color scheme? Just to be safe I’d add more color to your outfit, anything to take away from looking like the bride or her maids.
Sadly I’m warning you because similar happened to me. Those breezy comfortable dresses get mistaken as bridesmaid dresses, no idea why.

I personally would not have minded if a guest came to my wedding in that dress. However, I would worry if people would mistake you for a member of the bridal party depending on their palette. (My BMs wore blush. 🤣)

If it helps this is me just throwing it on real quick. Blocked out my face because ya girl’s had a day and I look like a dumpster fire.

They dont have a true “style” or theme. She’s just grabbing a bouquet for herself from Whole Foods in the morning. There isn’t a bridal party. The invites were a quick text. There’s no wedding website. I just don’t want his soon-to-be-wife to hate me because my husband views his friend like a brother so we’ll be in each other’s lives forever

It looks like an off white- i feel like if you’re questioning it yourself then it’s a no. Poshmark is people selling used clothes, so if they’ve described it incorrectly then you can just get a refund.

Your questioning/doubt makes it an easy “no” for me. Get a different color.

Yeah I've been on it for awhile and occasionally get something that's a bit more worn or has a tear they didn't describe. I have never gotten something that's literally a totally different color. I sent the girl a message to see if she had an explanation

Looks yellow to me. Wouldn't think anything of it if someone wore it to my wedding.

It wouldn’t bother me, but I agree with PPs it is a bit of an ivory and if the bride is wearing an ivory dress she may be irked. If you’re worried about it, you should find something else.

I wouldn't worry about it usually but because it's going to be casual I'd worry you'd be mistaken for a bridesmaid. It's definitely not bridal and looks more ivory than white but if she's a picky bride she might not feel as relaxed about it as I do.
