Group Honeymoon?

Nadine, on July 18, 2013 at 6:08 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 43

Has anyone had a group honeymoon?

We are thinking of having people go with us on our honeymoon. We will go for 4 nights and have 1 day all to ourselves and the rest will be beach bound and partying and sight seeing with some family.

We will obviously have our own room and stuff as well ha

Does this sound like a horrible idea?

We were thinking Ocean City Maryland. Staying right on the boardwalk.

I wouldn't do it personally but I've taken group vacays and as much as I love them, I want to be with just my honey during this time..:

Oh, hell no! DH's parents offered for us to go on an all-expense paid cruise with stops in Istanbul, etc. - along with them and DH's brothers & their wives. We politely declined. They could not believe we turned them down.

We are since we are having a wedding on a cruise but everyone's just doing their own thing we don't have a special itinerary. I think it will be fun for us because my mom and my aunt so much fun so it will be great to know that she will be there to see the same attractions as me as if I want to have fun with them they're there

    No. Nononononono. No.

Also no to OCMD. That's no honeymoon spot. If you're on a budget, try Savannah, Outer Banks, etc.

I'm with you Jules....I hate group vacations. FH and I travel great together, I don't need anyone bringing us down.

Oh maybe its not such a great idea...

It would be like my cousins and stuff and we are all super close like best friends.

We think it would be great and we would deff take some time just to ourselves. I guess it all depends on how you get along with the people you are going to go with.

We figure sun fun in the day and seeing everything along the boardwalk. Going to all the little shops and nice dinners and some drinking fun at night. ha I think it would be a ton of fun. But I see how a lot of people just want the romantic get away. We dont do the whole couples massage thing so we figured we would be bored with something like that.

We have only been on one vacation that my mother put together for us all to go on so we dont really know how to plan a get away at all. :-/

No way! The honeymoon is for the newlyweds and not another family reunion. Sorry if that sounds rude, but not big on extended family vacations. I'm big on family, but that means me, FH, & my kids (which they aren't going either).

@amanda it is a smaller budget we live in upstate ny but all the places out here are very calm and we are not great at planning a vacation so I am not sure what we would do on the honeymoon. We want to do stuff, like sight see, or go to events or something.

I'm just going to out this out there and be blunt... I intend on being naked on my private tropical garden patio on my honeymoon. A lot.

Other people? Ain't no one got time for that.

But in all seriousness what you're planning sounds fun for a vaca, but not what I would personally want for something as special as a honeymoon.

We don't do couples massages or things either....but we enjoy the sightseeing, eating, nightlife with just each other.

If you don't know how to plan just the two of you...think of what you'd do in a group then reduce the number of people to two. It's all about what you want though. While I would never want that for my honeymoon, you certainly wouldn't be the first bride to choose that route.

Nope, just nope. MIL offered us a honeymoon in the Bahamas with bro and sis in law who are getting married a month after us. Being stuck in another country with people we cannot stand? No thank you! She won't let up because she offered us the same thing AGAIN but to Catalina. I am anticipating she will get a third attempt in before November.

@Nadine, OCMD is a decent vacation spot for families (some of the summer), but it's predominantly known for becoming a cesspool every year early May - late June as high school seniors flock there after graduation. I can't see your wedding date as I'm on my phone, but if it's anywhere near that timeframe, I'd seriously stay away! It's also probably at least an 8-hour drive from you, and the nearest airport will be two hours away.

Have you looked into any NY/NJ beaches? What about a B&B in New England?
