Has anyone had a group honeymoon? We are thinking of having people go with us on our honeymoon. We will go for 4 nights and have 1 day all to ourselves and the rest will be beach bound and partying and sight seeing with some family. Does this sound like a horrible idea?

We were thinking Ocean City Maryland. Staying right on the boardwalk.

I think your first vacation as a married company should be just the two of anything. When you said group honey moon I was thinking with other couples. I think that would be fun if you have friends getting married the same time.

I wouldn't, but I can understand why some people would like it. I just want to relax with FH! I can't deal with planning other people's days, because that's what always happens when I go on group vacations.

It depends. I usually prefer to travel solo or with FH BUT I dont think a group honeymoon would be bad as long as it was not the enitre honeymoon.

I personally PREFER to enjoy the privacy. Maybe 1 day with the group but almost the entire vacay with FH alone doing honeymoon thangs Smiley laugh Smiley winking

Ocean city is fun but not honeymoon worthy too rowdy especially in the summer. I live in MD go there every summer I can't even envision honeymooning there. But I think its great for a vacation.

It's fun there but the week of your wedding is the most expensive time you can go to OCMD... Seriously prices sky rocket. I live in upstate NY as well BTW.

As far as the group thing I personally wouldn't just because I want it to be alone time with my new husband... but I'm not a people person on s good day haha

I wouldn't want to be around friends and family when all 'm trying to do is get it on with my new hubby.

It's bad enough when we're in vegas alone, i can't imagine how much more time in the room we'll be spending during our honeymoon ;D

Oh gosh it tough around here... I was going to say the Adirondacks like a Lake George resort or something or the Thousand Islands... but you didn't seem to want that.. I'm seriously zero help.

I have considered it. I just do better with a couple of people to be honest. FH and I have lived together for 6 yrs so honestly I feared getting bored lol. Plus it would help with the cost.

Yeah we thought about that but we have been there a handful of times already. My brother used to live in buffalo so we would visit then go to niagra falls afterwards. It is very nice for anyone planning on going there

Nadine, group honeymoons have the opportunity to be amazing, provided that you and your fiance both have enough alone time with each other. They are becoming more popular, especially with those that are social creatures, love traveling and being with friends and family.

Another benefit of going as a group, is that you may able to score additional amenities, like a free room, upgrades, or an activity that you would otherwise not be able to get by going on your own.

The most important thing is being able to choose the perfect location that allows you the privacy, as well as the combined social aspect so that you can have your cake and eat it too; so to speak. Smiley smile

FH and I have gone on vacation with other couples. In my opinion, it's hit or miss depending on the other couple(s) Some people know how to vacation and some people don't. However, for our honeymoon, it will just be the two of us.

So... ideas of places to go instead of OC (I'm from MD and agree that it's not honeymoon-worthy or all that worth such a long trip):

    - Montauk, LI

    - Montreal

    - Cape Cod/other parts of New England

    - further away options: Caribbean spots, Key West, etc.

I think aside from the obvious honeymoon activity (and I don't mean a couples' massage), you and your H get to travel together for what will be (in your case) the first time -- just the two of you. With that experience comes the ability to try new things -- whether it's snorkeling, hiking, trying new foods in a different country, navigating a totally different environment - together. Doing any scale of travel w/ just him is a great way to lean on each other and bond together.

Looking at your date, if you leave immediately after the wedding you'll pay big time as it's Labor Day weekend. If you wait a handful of days, you could get some big discounts as you'll miss the holiday and the traditional end of summer, when peak prices prevail.

It's so touch and go with group vacations with other people/couples. @Nadine His mom wanted us to share a two bedroom oceanfront villa with his bro and sis in law. That's too close for comfort for a honeymoon. And I was right. She is still pushing Catalina. Wants us to come out for one day during bro and sis's honeymoon she is planning in December. I don't know how many times I've said no.

To each his/her own but since you've asked...umm...that is a big NO! In my mind a HM is a once in a lifetime experience. It's the first trip after becoming man and wife. You simply cannot recreate that experience. There will be plenty of ops for group vacations to be part of I am sure.

Enjoy your husband on your OWN.

Sorry didn't realize people were still responding to this. We were mostly thinking of the group idea because we were thinking of how fun it could be. We would love to go to Disney just the two of us but its not something we can afford. We want to have fun.

Okay. So many people said no, but call me crazy I rather go with friends and have fun being newlywed and free (to me being married is being free) I would want to go celebrate with friends and then take a couple days where it is just me and him. Plus FH and I don't like sitting around to much we love company and haveing friends is perfect for us.
