Groomsmen arriving from overseas shortly before wedding-- tuxedos??

Emily, on October 26, 2015 at 9:37 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 9

Hello, we will be having our wedding this summer in the USA but my fiancé is spanish and his groomsmen will be flying in from Spain only a few days before the wedding. Do you have suggestions as how to go about getting them fitted for suits?? I am not sure I trust them to bring a suit from Spain and not forget anything...

I don't see why you can't trust them to bring their suit. Since they're going to a wedding, I'm sure they'll remember to bring the one outfit they need for the weekend. Otherwise I would say have them measured by a tailor and send the measurements to whatever shop you're using near you. Have them all head over the second everyone is in town to make any last minute adjustments.

My groomsmen were all from out of town, they got measured at whatever random store was near them, sent in the measurements, then tried on the tuxes the day before.

Hi @Emily - welcome to WeddingWire!

Are the groomsmen visiting you at any point leading up to the wedding? If so, your FH could organize a group trip to get measured/fitted and order everyone's suit. Otherwise, you'll definitely have to just trust that they'll get it done where they are!

Are you ordering the same suit for everyone? Can they do it online? If so, I'm sure they can get themselves measured and then order online without much trouble.

Emily! I was in the EXACT same boat! My husband is Spanish and I'm from the US, we live in Madrid (where are you?) and got married in the US a couple weeks ago.

For the groomsmen, getting them fitted before was turning out to be pretty much impossible, so we went with telling them all to wear black suits and shoes, white shirts and we provided the same tie for all of them. It was a risk, but it actually looked perfect. Because they were suits they already owned, the fits were spot on versus being a little off, like rentals can sometimes be.

Since I went through what you're going through now, I'd be happy to help in any way possible! Glad to see someone else in my shoes on here, lol.

Most men know what size suit they wear. If for some reason they don't, they can go into any department store or tux/suit store to get measured. Get their measurements from them, and order the suits or rentals from your local store.

Most of FH's groomsmen are out of town and don't have our local tux shop available where they live. The tux shop gave us details on how to submit their measurements online or by calling the store in advance of the wedding.

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much for your help. We are still in the beginning processes of planning, so these are all welcomed ideas. Once we decide what we want the groomsmen to wear we will plan from there. Thanks! Any suggestions/tips for planning a wedding in the US while living in another country are always welcomed Smiley smile

Anybody have any advice on bringing multiple tuxedos to a destination wedding. I have approximately 10 suits including the fathers, the problem I run into is the suits have to be returned by a certain day and most guys are staying later then that day. so I paid for an extra luggage to bring to try and fit in and have 1 guy who's leaving early bring them back. any suggestions please?
