Groomsman bday on wedding day

Aneesah, on April 17, 2017 at 11:12 AM Posted in Planning 0 13

Hello all,

One of our groomsman's birthday is the same as the wedding date. What should we do to give him a little shine? I was thinking of having the DJ do a shoutout but is that enough? Thanks!

I think a DJ shoutout is perfect! Maybe the groomsmen can all do their own toast before the ceremony too?

FMIL birthday is our anniversary/wedding date. We asked our baker to make her a small birthday cake as a surprise. Then again its FH mom so we wanted to do something a little more special. I think that a DJ shout out would be great!

Our niece's birthday is the day before. We're having a cake at the rehearsal dinner.

My cousin's son's birthday (turning 3) is on our wedding day, so we are giving him his gift before the wedding and pulling him aside during our reception after dinner and having a personal cake for him to sing happy birthday and blow out his candles.

Good ideas! I think we'll do the shoutout and get a cake for him to have during the rehearsal dinner. Didn't even think of that.

I personally don't know if I would incorporate his birthday into your wedding day. That is you and FH's day to shine, not his. I like the idea of doing something at rehearsal dinner.

It was our close friend's birthday on our wedding! We had the DJ make a surprise shoutout at the reception and made everyone sing happy birthday! It was a hit Smiley smile

I was the MOH in my friends wedding on my birthday. They gave me a cake and gift in front of all 200 guests. It was really embarrassing especially because the cake wasn't ready and she made me stand there in the middle of the room for what seemed like an eternity waiting for the cake. When I asked if I could give my toast to bypass the time she told me no. She then made me open the gift in front of everyone. In her wedding photos you could tell I was so uncomfortable.

So my suggestion would be to make sure he is ok with whatever you want to do.

That makes sense, Katie. Especially he usually doesn't like being the center of attention. I'll run a few ideas past him and see how he feels.

I like the shout out, small cake, and singing happy birthday thing. But I'd give him the present towards the end of the night.

I have a cousin with a birthday on our wedding date. We were planning on having a little candle in her cupcake. No singing or anything, but a little gesture.

It was my FIL birthday the next day, so we ha a cake made for him and candles. It was a surprise and the DJ gave him a shout out and then he blew out his candles. Then the DJ played Happy Birthday by the Beatles. It was great!
