Grooms cake!

This is what my FH is doing for his groom's cake (he will be adding Alabama football and Atlanta Braves baseball stuff to it as well)! I've lived in the south my whole life, and I don't think I've ever been to a wedding that didn't have a groom's cake!

I'm doing a Star Wars themed cake for my FH. I had never heard of this before but my FH wanted one. I didn't want it at the wedding next to our cake so I'm going to have it at the rehearsal dinner.

My FH is having one. I'm sure it will be some kind of football theme

We are not having a grooms cake per-say but most of our guests are not cake people to begin with. we will have 1 2-tier cake which will be lemon with cream cheese filling and buttercream frosting. We will also have a dessert bar with chocolate chip cookies, lemon bar and blueberry cobbler, among other things. He helped pick out everything and didn't really want a separate cake.

I think Grooms cakes were for a time when Grooms didn't really get a say in the wedding. It was like the one thing that was "for them."

That being said, it is your guys wedding. Do whatever you want!

We aren't doing a "grooms cake" but per his request my grandmother is making 100 mini cheesecake cupcakes and we will have various toppings on the side

We originally didn't want a groom's cake, but we're from the South and my mom insisted that she would pay for it since "he needed it"

We ordered him a tractor cake. For some reason he just loves tractors, so tractor cake it is!

I've only seen it a few weddings but I'm not sure if we will do one for my FH due to hes not a big cake person.

We’re not doing one, my FH doesn’t even really like cake that much and barely wants a wedding cake. I think we are just going to do a small cutting cake and then cupcakes in a variety of flavors so people can pick what they want.

I’ve also never actually seen one done at a wedding, I don’t think they’re very popular in the region we live (Ohio/Michigan)

I honestly don't get the concept of a grooms cake.

Is it like a birthday cake just for him beside the wedding cake for both the two of you?
