Groom's Attire (Beach Wedding)

Maui K, on February 6, 2017 at 2:43 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 17

I have never been to a beach wedding (or an outdoor wedding in the heat before) so I would appreciate some advice from people that have. I really want FH to wear a slim fit suit because I think it'll look great on him. But he's worried about it being too hot. We tried seeing what it would looks like with him just wearing a white buttoned shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a vest, but I didn't really like the look on him. We also tried on a linen suit (which may be good because it's lighter) but I'm afraid it will wrinkle really badly and not look good. The wedding will be in Maui and it'll probably be about 70-80 degrees.

My husband wore a 3 piece linen suit. It looks great and didn't wrinkle.

Its from Macy's and is Perry Ellis. We brought a hand steamer with us (you can buy the little steamer for 20 bucks at BBB) and that worked perfectly.

@BeachLove I told him we could also find an outfit for him to wear to the reception if it's too hot. But for the pictures and ceremony I really want him in a suit!

My H wore gray chino style pants, a tiffany blue button down shirt and brown flip flops (you can see his outfit in my profile pic). His GM wore the same pants and flip flops but they wore white button down shirts; all had the sleeves rolled up a bit.

This worked perfect for us because we didn't have a super formal wedding and he wanted to ensure he was comfortable, and he knew he wouldn't be if he had to wear a suit or a tie.

If you are worried about wrinkling, you could also just hang the suit in the bathroom while you take showers and the steam should let out most if not all of the wrinkles.

How formal is it? You could always just have him in a white shirt and pants if it's a casual beach wedding. I've been to two Hawaii weddings and in one, they wore khakis and white button downs, and in the other they wore nice Hawaiian looking shirts with suit pants.

We went and picked out FH's suit this weekend. He is essentially wearing the same thing as LB except with out the jacket. So tan linen vest and pants with white shirt (rolled up sleeves) and green tie. We went this weekend to men's wearhouse and they were having a buy one get one free deal, so we were actually able to be the best man's pants and vest as well.

I'm late to the thread, but we are getting married in Belize next month and had a similar discussion when looking for my FH's wedding attire. Long story short, my FH doesn't like the look of linen and we ended up buying a suit from JosABank in their Tropical Blend fabric. It's an extremely lightweight fabric, so hopefully he doesn't sweat in it too much!

100% go with a linen suit. Perfect match between venue and suit.

The cotton suit is also a great warm weather option. I know bonobos has one, and I believe Brave Gentleman does as well. Or, linen pants and something like a guyabera for a less formal, less structured kind of look. Just depends on how formal you want and what you like.

    Congrats!

We are marrying on St Pete Beach, FL in July (it will be 98 degrees +) and have purchased linen drawstring khaki colored pants from Tommy Bahama ($100ish), from their "Relax" Collection along with the matching shirt. We also found a linen collection at Perry Ellis for 1/2 the cost of Tommy Bahama, but FH says the linen is not as soft or breathable. We didn't learn until afterward all this wrinkle trouble, so we are also investing in a hand steamer (Amazon, BBB, Target - all carry the same) and will have FH and the guys put on their "Wedding clothes" closer to "go time".

Everything I have read says that with linen, the higher quality, the less chance it has of looking terrible, so I am glad we paid $100+ for the pants to start, but fingers are crossed anyway.

    Cubavera? and
Guyebera? Also had great styles, but FH is not an "online clothes shopper". We did well at Macy's and the Outlet Malls Smiley smile

    Good luck!
