Gratuity at an all inclusive venue

Janine, on May 7, 2018 at 7:57 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

I am wondering what the etiquette is for gratuity at an all inclusive wedding venue is. I was given a quote for two different places one that included 20% and the other that included 30%. I am new to all of this and don't know if I am supposed to tip above this or what the norm is. Can anyone give me some input on this one? TIA for any information as it is much appreciated.

Is it actually gratuity or is it a service charge? Those things are synonymous.

Sorry, I meant they aren’t synonymous. Service charges are typical, and most range between 20-25% but they’re almost never gratuity.

Ok so I read the quote again it does state service charge. So does that mean you tip on top of that? If yes, how much?

At my venue the 22% service fee includes the gratuity. I am not expected to tip on top of that. You will want to ask your venue and understand that before signing a contract.

I am paying a 20 percent service charge and then they suggest 3-5% gratuity additional.

So, I spoke to the venue and they stated that the service charge is the gratuity. They said generally there is no tip on top of that. They said sometimes people give gift cards to the bar tender and wedding coordinator but that's about it.
