I know that your wedding day is supposed to be a day of celebration and happy but both my FH and I have had a close grandparent die and I was wondering what anyone has done as a remembrance during the wedding ceremony and/or reception. I've heard that some people have placed a picture of the decedent along with a flower on a table ... is this tacky? Ideas on what we can do to honor our deceased grandparent that we wish could physically be there?

These are all great ideas! I ordered vases with our grandparents' names inscribed and now trying to decide how I should display them.

I'm working with a couple who are choosing to have a family member from each side place a rose in a central vase at the front, as part of the "Welcome to the ceremony" section. As the officiant, I'll say something like: "As we witness the marriage of K and P, we celebrate this new branch of the family tree that is being created. We know it will always be strengthened and nourished by the support of their family roots, and so we honor the grandparents of P and K with the roses being brought forward now."
